My life flashed before my eyes
Last night I was at Pine Valley Raceway for t&t and wasnt having a good time really because of bad track prep and heat and humidity. The first 4 runs were scuttled due to blowing the tire off at the 2nd shift. Well on the 5th run after finding a better tire pressure and groove, I was full on for a clean pass when going through the traps a red ear turtle "runs" into my tire groove and stops right in front of me 100ft after the lights. I dont know how I missed him as there wasnt any time to actually take a planned course of action. Hitting a turtle shell on a bike at 147mph would certainly spell doom. I have actually seen it happen and have done it myself at a very slow speed going around a corner about 22yrs. ago. Anyway, I'm waving my arms around at the end of the shutdown trying to stop the next run until the turtle gets off the track but nobody can see me. It was too late because the set of imports took off and finished the run with no drama. There was no turtle on the track! So they get back to running and when I make my pass and come back up the return road there is the turtle again. It seems that one of those lowrider imports hit him and drug him all the way around the return road.lol He had a way worse night than me..

lmao!! That sounds as bad as people in florida finding allligators in the back yard, lol, but that turtle had one hell of a ride!!!!!!!!!

Sorry....this is bad but I can't resist: maybe it a Ninja Turtle??
Seriously, very glad you missed him. That's almost one of those cases where you go where you're looking...it would be hard not to look at the turtle in the middle of the track.

Holy shit I can't say I've ever seen a turtle in front of my bike !
Wow this story would have a much different ending if you made contact with the hard shelled creature.
I'm glad this story didn't end tragic ... Well atl least for everyone but the turtle lol!

I hit a large tortuga back in the late 70's on a 77 GL-1000 doing 120mph, felt like a speed bump, bike smelled like fish for weeks.

Never hit a turkey. Never see them around here. I've hit 1 of them buzzards in the truck and 2 with my damned bike. The second one shit all over me at impact and I had to have the nice old lady at a carwash wash me down. She got too damned close with the wand and damned near cut my arm off. Bad day..

What I've heard from others with the same experience as you.......Aim for the rear!!
Turtles can't back up in a hurry, at least not as fast as they go forward  ))
