The Vance&Hines and Kerker were good for that year model.

I agree the Vance and hines megaphone is a great pipe for power.
They also have a supersport oval aluminum canister system as well I think that is good .
But the megaphone makes the power.

Dennis Kirk catalog 2010 still shows a Vance&Hines megaphone for GS1100E/ES80-83 part #25-426 for 307.99. Dont see a Supersport but they may still have one if you give them a call. Iike the aluminum cans better on those year bikes personally.

Star Racing might still have a street megaphone for it. V&H is a good one, MAC is not to bad. For best power Take the airbox off and run the individual K&N pod filters. You can get a jet kit cheap.

If I can recall it correctly.......... I had a V&H bent meg 4/1 had to remove lid to air box, K&N and a jet kit for the carb's. Factory Configure 10 jet kit. if theyare still open. I liked their needles better than a K&N stage 1 jet kit......... damn..............seems like just a moment ago.

Those bikes work a lot better with CR33 or bigger carbs with the pods and V&H pipe. Cams too if you really want the best power.

Actually if you get a set of the early GSXR750 carbs they make even more power. or a set of Carbs off of a Bandit 1200. really wakes the GS up.

I have 1987 ZX-10 40MM CV carbs on my 1986 FJ1200. Was 36 MM. Sure made a difference with head work and 40,000 volt Andrews Coils.

The GS1100E/ES models were great in their time. They did have problems as well.

The Vance and Hines 4 inti 1 Pipe in my personal experiance worked the best.

Install the exhaust, remove the carbs, install a 120 main jet in all carbs.

Remove the diaphrams and inside the slide that comes out at the bottom there is a circlip,
remove it and the needle will slide out of the top with a washer and a nylon spacer on top.

Install the nylon spacer under the needle, I mean slide the sharp end of the needle through the nylon washer.Reinsatall the needle and slide assy and install the circlip back to where it was. Note, the needle should still move up and down after the circlip is installed if you move it with your hand before you install the slide assy. If it is stuck, remove and do it over.
The small washer should be on top of the slide.

Do that to all 4 carbs, and reinstall. Last but not least, remove your airbox lid and leave the filter installed.

If you do it right, it will run perfect, and no jet-kit required!

I have done this over 25 times to my bike and others many years ago. Works great!

Dave

Use pod type air cleaner's , drill the slide's very littel #135 main's #42 pilot jet's , Vance and Hine's front sect of header only , call em up the factory tell em yours broke need new one.
It's chepear that way, weld up a rear section use a 2&3/4 inch stainless glass pack , make a nice end peice, your set , better coils , find a altanator shop to wind the stater with thicker wire , biggest oil cooler you can strap on !
The sound alone of those carb's opening , with induvidual filter's make's em sound more powerful !
