The short block was given to me, steel crank, forged rods, 4 bolt main.
A 454 would have not been free.
Besides, no stock bottom end 454 could handle 7000 rpm daily, and on the street the 383 and 396 were more successful than the 454 and 440, from my experience.

I'm still trying to figure out how to strap a spark plug to my dyno and make a pull ..Once i do i'll tell you what brand plug makes the most HP ..
