More Texas racing - this time 1/4 mile - with video >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

THE GOOD: Another day of racing. We were pretty excited because a “cold front” had just come through in Texas in May – pretty rare. Low humidity, low temps (72, yeah that’s cold for Texas!) and BP of 30.20. DA was around 750, which is about as good as it gets here.

THE BAD: Start line was slick and were were also spinning on the big end. That got better after a few Outlaw Fuel Altereds laid down some rubber.

THE UGLY: Sorry, there is no ugly when you get a lane and head toward the finish line! I’m still in the learning process, so if I make it safely to the end of the track, I consider that a good run …………………

Anyway, here’s Wheelie – ‘almost’ getting it done:

OK, 2nd pass.
Let's get that clutch out sooner - Ooooooopppppppps! Maybe a little TOO soon?
Stangely enough, almost the same et as the spinning first run.
Also, that was supposed to be a full tree.

I'm glad you asked that question!

I ended the night with a 9.315 @ 147.78.
Actually a pretty remarkable time (kudos to the 14, not to me), considering the 60 ft.

60 ........ 1.623
330 ...... 4.063
1/8 ....... 6.071
mph ..... 119.02
1000 .... 7.813
1/4 ........ 9.315
MPH ..... 147.78

As Gallagher used to say "It don't take no genius to figure out" where I need impovement.
I just don't know how to get there.
As Wheelie says, anyone see anything that sticks out that makes my 60's and 330's suck?

Nice passes.....One thing I heard was that on your second video you got your rpms up and then once you staged you dropped them alot. Make sure that you get your rpms where you want them and keep them steady, move the bike in with your feet. You need to always leave at the same rpms on every pass. Wee, is he running one of your gear combos? Sounds like it.

I heard the rpms drop as well, i bet that's what killed your 60ft. Sounded like 3rd got shifted a little early, other than that looked good!

Thanks for the comments.

Yes, I let the rpms drop on that run, but I don't think that's typical. I'm trying to leave at the middle of 5000 - 5500, so about 5250, so leaving that low is probably hurting me. For me, that's just part of the learning curve, but I guess that it is time for me to step it up. Wheelie leaves at close to 6000 and I think that TNT leaves at about 7000.

Yes, I am running the "Wheelie" gearing - 16/48.

Otherwise, It's just the normal what-most-do-that-works combo.

Roaring toys Exts - 6 over.
ZZZ chain.
Air shifter.
Original clutch, stock springs, about 1300 miles.
Shinko U-soft at 15 - 18 psi.
S-Meg, Air Filter out, 08 PC3 with Brock's track map for nosec, baffle in and TPS set.
Strapped, lowered, stock shock with spring cranked to about max so the tire doesn't rub.

My weight 185 + gear, so close to 200 suited.

"Wheelie" brand!

No kidding, although it was probably "Rich Craft" brand before that.

MPS electronics, Grainger for ram and clevis, Ace Hardware for upper mount, hot rod shop for braided lines and fittings, etc.

I think that Wheelie does the install for $350 plus parts ......................

You guys are both layin it down out there. Lucky that was a GREAT launch on the second vid. However like the other guys said you short shifted, so that probably killed your 330ft.

Just keep up that seat time man, those times will drop!

Im a little guy and i dont even know if i could keep it down with a 16/48 gear. idk how you guys do it!!

Didja see the part about the 1.623 60 ft. at 6 over?

Yes, I've watched your videos many times, and have watched Wheelie both live and on video.

Watching is not translating into doing. I need a 1.4x 60!

Any advise?
