Real bikers don't care what you ride, as long as you ride. The rest are just posers.
Motorbikes are like women, comparing one to another misses the point. Each one has a beauty all its own. To say that you would only ride brand x is like saying you would only date a woman with a certain color hair.

old and still alive to talk about it........driving 160 mph in rush hour fraffic with 20 of your young friends behind you ....half of them standing on the seat with the front wheel 6 feet off the road is normal. being chased home after a ride by the police hellicoper is just another day. I love all the h/p but also have learned there is a time and a place for every thing.57 years old 240 lbs wet and bench press 400 lbs ..you should have seen me in my younger days but I was trying make my bike go faster all the time

I ride a Harley as do a lot of my friends. I also ride with a lot of metric riders and every Harley rider I call friend gives them all the respect that everyone is due unless they show they are undeserving. Apparently you ran across one of the many douche bags that populate the riding world. Trust me, there are many who ride metric that hate and mess with a Harley rider as well. Guys like the one you encountered give us all a bad name. If I wanted to go fast, have a bike that handled great and was twice as powerful as a Harley then I would be riding a metic bike. But sometimes with age you realize your mind wants to do things your body just can't. Everyone be cool and stay safe, it just ain't worth it..

Well, why is it that 99 percent of the harley riders, won't even give you a friendly wave as you pass by like MOST sportbike riders, this is the truth where I live, granted its CA, so there are a lot os assholes out here anyway, just saying .....

I know exactly what you're saying dude. I can't give any reason for it, some people are just haters and carry it on their shoulders everywhere the go. Me, I wave to everybody, I stop and give help to everybody. You being in CA might explain some of it but I think it's more of a mind set. It's a totally different style of riding and appreciating each other is not always possible. Personally I've outgrown the need to do 180 mph on the Interstate, it's life shortening and I don't need that high in my life anymore. But I appreciate those who do because there was a day when that was me. There's no denying that the metric bikes are killer in the style that they are meant to be ridden. Unreal power, great handling and almost all stock metrics will blow the doors off of any stock Harley. Harley's have had a bad rap for years about being unreliable, oil leakers and always breaking down, and there was a day when a lot of that was true. It's a lot better now but can always be better. I ride a Sportster with a few mild mods. Personally I can't get into those overweight monsters that everyone says I will want to move up to one day. Not me, I like decent handling and the feel of a lighter bike, although still heavy by metric standards. A good friend has a real hog that tips the scales just shy of 900 pounds. I can't imagine riding something like that. Mine weights right around 550, a light weight by Harley standards.. Thanks for the post dude....

We Harley riders who choose to ride Sportster's sometimes take grief from our own guys who ride the bigger bikes. Some say we're riding girl bikes. I don't care, I like what I like. My bike may only be a 1200 but it will easily leave those big Harley's behind and out handle them without any problem. Many of those with bigger bikes will spend a ton of money trying to increase their Harley's engine output, taking it to the point of unreliability and over-heating in hot weather and still the big bikes are not fast. Weight is the great equalizer on a bike. Most of the bigger Harley riders forget that it is the Sportster engine that is bullet proof with many of the problems of the twin cam engines being taken care of with the 4 cam Sportster engine. Just a better designed engine and fully reliable. IMHO.

Thanks, you may have a point. I've been on Harley chat rooms and find the guys on here are a lot LESS judgmental then those bone-heads. As a former metric rider, in my youth, I now ride a Sportster but love what you guys have available to you these days. Shit man, I'd be killing myself on one of those damn rockets. My brother rides a Ninja, thinking about getting a Ducata. Hmmmmm, not sure what to think. Great bikes either one...

It saddens me that when I ride either my harley or my ZX14 and I wave at Harley guys (while on the 14) or at Jap guys when on the Harley, that not many people wave back.
Hey, we all enjoy our rides, that's what matters...
Here's my Harley...full Rinehart Exhaust, Screamin Eagle intake, etc.....and cams next spring!

and both my bikes a week ago!!

My mistake, I misread part of your post. What kind of vette? I still have my 1962 factory fuel injected with only 22,000 miles. Black on black with hardtop and white convertable soft top. 4:56 rear gears.
