Went to the track for the FIRST time!!!
on my bike......that is! I have never gone down the track on any bike before. Hell, I only have 1680 miles on this thing and they were babied miles at that. I have ton of passes in my car but this is a whole new world! Oh, btw this is my FIRST street bike also as I crossed over from the chopper/cruiser world!
I guess I can say that I did better than I imagined but not as well as I was hoping. Next time! I will say that the factory tire is not the easiest thing to try to launch with any sort of RPM.
Now to the passes. 2012 14r in black. Bike has a full AH2, PCV with street map, 4" ext and lowered on the trees about 3/4", stock gearing. I am 205+ suited, full tank of gas, TC1 all day, foot shifting (not very well either! lol), temp was mid 60s all day.
1st pass: spun like crazy as I tried to launch it at about 4000. track was not the best as it was still early in the afternoon. 11.49@ 145 with a 2.23 60'. I can run to the 60' faster than that!
2nd pass: figured I would let some air out. Launched at 3500--- 1.861 60' 10.351@144.0. missed 4th gear. raced a grudge bike.
3rd pass: raced a grudge bike. Left at 3500rpm again--1.742 60' 10.343 @ 118.8 missed 3rd AND 4th so I let out! this would have been my 9.999 pass I was looking for! mf'r!
4th pass: track getting better so I left at 4000 this time-- 1.831 60' and it tried to slide me off the back! it was gonna be on a pass. Raced a 14" over Gixxer 1K. I treed him but he got out about 1 bike on me and I was reeling him in by the 1/8 cone. he let off about about 800' and so did I for a split second......then remembered I was running 1/4...dumb ass me...got back into the gas and went a 10.23@136.94. Again, would have been close to a 9 sec pass again! I am a idiot!
5th and last pass: figured I would try to give it hell left at 4000 again and oh boy. it picked the front end up and I felt the TC working. only went a 1.88 60' but I am gonna say that was the back tire. I actually tucked more this time and actually could hear the bike as I was on a single run. stayed in it and had to get into 5th gear on this pass around 1000'.
best pass was the last pass 10.14 @ 143.77. That last pass I actually felt the chain jump a few teeth. stock chain and sprockets will soon go in the trash. All in all, I had a good time, nervous as hell though. I have about 1000 passes in cars but this thing scares the hell out of me!! I guess I can't complain about the first time ever on a bike I almost dipped into the single digits....next time I guess.
Once I get the first 100' figured out I should be ok! Just have to say thanks to everyone who posts up tips and tricks on how to ride this beast!

why do you think the chain jumped?
With your 60' times, stock tire should be no problem at all. Track prepped? Tire pressure? Where are you lining up?

I'm curious how you got the "stock chain and sprockets" to work with 4" extensions?

Ken, you said your bike has stock gearing, then you said on the 5th pass you got into 5th gear at 1000ft. Something is wrong. With stock gearing 4th is good for 150mph. Sounds like your bike is geared down, otherwise what are you doing in 5th at 1000ft ?
