toasted.
bikes at the dealer... while riding it started knocking hard... dealer thinks its a rod bearing. they are pulling it apart tomorrow... hoping my extended warranty will cover this..

i will keep everyone posted, im good friends with everyone at the dealer (used to work there). they are susposed to pull it apart tomorrow to see the problem and then send a claim to kawi... my fingers are crossed.
so tomorrow night i should know what really is wrong.

That sucks with that no more miles than that. Gilberjj has 50k on the clock and still going strong. Kawi oil and filter I hope,heard the Kawi reps don't like to see other brands on there. My dealer told me to only use the Kawi oil in my Ultra. Because the reps would balk on warranty if it had green or blue oil in it if it popped.

well according to the dealer #2 rod spun all the way around. the others "almost" spun..
kawi is going to cover a new crank, only the #2 rod, and all the bearings.. at the moment. they do want my crank from inspection though.
i have to get the dealer some money for something non related and they should be getting all the parts i need soon.
Thank you Kawi extended warranty. im covered till 2012.. im sure the bike will have some stupid miles on it by then..

If your drag racing it it may have been an oil starvation problem. Might want to look into a fix for that.

talked with my buddy at the dealer today.. they just ordered all the parts.. crank, one rod, bearings, one piston, and all new rings and bolts..
2100 in parts and kawi allowed 10 hrs of labor
so its kawi is paying 3000 to the dealer.
and still under warranty.. thank you kawi!

No oil pump?! You better make damn sure they at least pull it apart and inspect it or chances are it will happen again!

kawi full synthetic is green... I learned that when I was half assed paying attention while changing me oil and glanced over only to freak out because i thought i had just poured anti-freeze into my motor lol.

Give this some thought if #2 spun, the rest close to spinning, what condition are the rod bolts for three rods you are going to use? ARE the rods elongated, using new rod bolts will mean resizing the rods. Food for thought. dealer cost on rods is about 92 dollars 3 X 92 = 276 dollars for a little insurance, reduce potential reoccurrance 200 miles into new engine/

I would NOT use any of them rods ... Either replace all four or resize all 3 and replace one ..I don't care what mother kawi said about replacing rod bolts ..If i replace a rod bolt the rod gets resized !!!! If kawi will not buy you four rods i would get in my pocket and pay for the other 3 rods ..
