Unfortunate to say the least. Sounds like they got the bottle a bit on the warm side.

I would like more details, as where did the bottle explode? I would assume the valve came out, but for it to blow it 50+ft in the air I would think it would have had to blow the whole valve out. Sad suituation.

i've seen guys warming bottles with propane torches . and putting flames to the bottle ...not saying this dude was doing it .. i also seen powder coated bottles .. all of the above are accidents waiting to happen . also wrong burst disks or no burst disks

I saw one do the same thing recently but luckily this one just spun in the air at about 10,000 rpms. This would have literally killed someone too had it flew straight. Scary shit, and very sad to hear.

I see guys all the time warming them with torches. My inner common sense thought that wasn't the best idea, but I've ne'er messed with the stuff.

He was carrying two bottles when one fell and started leaking out from the broken guage. As he went for that bottle, the one he was still holding fell and the valve broke sending it into his chest, killing him.

powder-coating the bottle requires baking or heating the bottles which can fatigued the metal and cause rupture
