zx14 Ram air system...

After examining the zx14 ram-air system one thing is clear, there's a lot of room for improvement. The headlamps create a huge design compromise.

I'm working on a new design that will take advantage of the removal of the headlamp assemblies and maximize the recovery pressure.

I'm going to have to take a crash course in fiberglass work soon.
Do any of you guys have any experience making moulds for making fiberglass parts?

I thought about that. It would be a nice straight flow path. It would add quite a bit of frontal inlet area thou which would increase the spillover which is quite high now. If the center duct was covered over that might be a solution.

Jim here is what I found for you. On pag 11 of Psychobikes archives is a thread titled headlight ram air. There is a name and number for a guy that does it. Shawn at 804-233-6300 hope that helps. I will post another pic of the system shortly.

Thanks for the info.

Actually myself and a friend are designing a complete new system now.

We are collecting data taking measurements and evaluating everything right now. Once we do the math and outline the parameters we can then design the duct.

This guy is extremely qualified for this. He is an MIT guy and worked for Northrup designing duct work for aircraft. He worked on the B2 project among others.

The hard part will be actually making the ducts.
