that one tooth smaller totally changes the way the bike launches...took me a couple of weeks to adjust to it...but like Smokin said...it does help with taming the power to manage it better out of the hole.

CAN you please explain how the pipe makes you 60ft better ..

who said it made him 60' better? Just that he was out testing the pipe for the first time. jUst happened to be riding the friggin wheels off that bike....must be the faster green that is helping him do that.

I made few 1/8 mile passes with my new Brocks CT pipe and run my best ever at stock wheel base 5.89 @ 123 and i had a 1.49 60 footer

Are you having to slide the clutch longer and give it more rpm's though to get the bike moving? I'm wondering the same thing as Bently. Does this really benefit the 190-200lbs riders?

That is great ! What gearing are you running ?
Congrats !

17/40 .. The 40 helps keep the wheelys down some ..

So your not true stock wheelbase! J/K Do you think that small changed help alot because I'm thinking of going that route as well.
The gear helps more than the tiny bit extra wheel base you get from the smaller gear .. The 40 tooth lets me get to full throttle faster .. Gears are funny things , what works for some may not work for others .. The only thing i can tell you is give it a try and see if it works for you ..

What is working for me is staging at 4000 rpms ... As i'm letting out the clutch i'm feeding more throttle ...I'm off the clutch pretty fast even with the 17/40 gears.. I will have to get someone to video it to know for sure .. I do believe that the clutch is out somewhere around the 60 foot mark .. Full throttle rolls as soon as i know i'm not in a wheely ... Unlike at 62 wheel base where i bang on the throttle .. It is all feel and a ballancing act of throttle and clutch ..It is really the same thing i do at 62 inch wheel base but with a slower motion of the clutch and throttle ...Like i told Benty not all gears work for everyone , you will have to give a 40 tooth a try and see if it works for you .. I know all of the super sport guys use 17/40 on a zx14 and that is why i try it ..

The one item that has helped me the most is staying forward on the bike ... I jam myself into the tank .. My head is over the windshield ....Feet in front of the pegs at the starting line... I keep myself planted there untill i get into second gear ... After that i slide back on the seat and get under the paint ...I still have the mirrors on the bike also , i believe that extra bit of weight from the Mirrors helps more than it hurts ..The Mirrors may or may not kill some MPH but they seem to help keeping the front end planted on the ground ..I have not done back to back testing on this Mirrors thing to see if it really does help , It's just a guess on my part ..

Thanks guys ... I felt sure the bike had low 5.90s in it but it never crossed my mind that it would run an 5.89 ... It was a real suprize to run a 1.49 60 footer and i did that twice last night .. Teddy had checked the DA right before my 5.89 pass ( 950 Feet ) .. Good air for sure but not as good as a few weeks ago when we had a DA at 300 feet .. Good air is coming to an end here in FL .. Todays temps will be mid 80s and 90% humidity ( sucks )..

I may have to try some MR9 fuel and see if it's possible to go low 5.80s...

Why not try out some E85 on it if it gives 5hp its worth it i would think

If you are wheelying now before full throttle, then I can't see where it would harm you if you did drop the gearing down with 1 tooth. As Smokin said...it just allows you more control of the power (still too much) that you have.

My best 60' so far has been a 1.53, with most being 1.55-1.58....so it sure isn't hurting mine. Body position is critical on a SWB bike...MUST stay forward as Smokin said.

Going to the track tomorrow night...got a new goal in my sights. Again, great riding Lee.

who said it made him 60' better? Just that he was out testing the pipe for the first time. jUst happened to be riding the friggin wheels off that bike....must be the faster green that is helping him do that.

I made few 1/8 mile passes with my new Brocks CT pipe and run my best ever at stock wheel base 5.89 @ 123 and i had a 1.49 60 footer

Quit trying to stir the pot....where did he claim the pipe made him 60' better??? He simply stated he was testing and those were his numbers. Gotta love a guy hating on someone riding the wheels off his bike. I haven't seen anyone else post up these types of numbers on SWB.

I'm going to get a gear coming tomorrow for mine as well and give it a shot. I'm thinking it will help my pro tree racing as well. be able to come off the clutch alittle quicker.

Nelson just remeber you run good numbers for your weight!

Just as a point reference... Sonny (thefastestunknown) ran 5.95 @124 and 9.15 @152 on brocks dairy bike with the smeg and stock gearing when Brock was doing the diary of the ZX14.

I said that to say that Smokin your 5.89 was likely a 9.0 pass in the 1/4..... (Applause)
