http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/busa-problems/72987-2nd-gear-problems.html I suggest you slap the top of your head, think about the only 14 tranny threads/posts are "clunkers" in me first gear is nothing like trying to pick a post from that thread. They seem to step to another foot crinkle is step on glass. Like, beat it as bad as your 14, you better lay down the paper in the garage. Page after page is, well, you read it, then go out and pat the tank or in case you have the urge to say, "Nice Doggie!" "Go on the paper, Boozy, go on the paper" (trail).
It's not your dog! Call the A ASS PEE See Ahhhhhhhhh, Quit yer cry'inn! Go find a fire hydrant, lift your leg and dogdew your thing sniffing out trouble. Sounds like you have no case if I have any pun to say aboutit 4 years in or 5 pages deep.

Been riding mine around while thinking of this thread. 1st gear isn't even bad but it clacks into gear.
1-2 shifts aren't even heard ,just felt with a positive change.
The rest are just as perfect.
I do remember when my Red was brand new that she was a bit noisy with the 1-2 change. But not no more. She's good

The ZX-14 is a wonderful machine with very few faults. From us old ZX-14 riders,(60+), have you ever tried to speed shift a 1947 Indian Chief, or a Harley Knuckle Head? The 14 is one masterpiece of engineering and production. Never leave anything stock, rule #1 and don't be a wuss.

I have the original script. Salty Pictures did the casting. It is a true story but not connected to myself.

That was a cool movie.
Anyway, back on subject. My bike progressively shifted harder, and finally at 10K, it got stuck in gear, could not shift up or down. Turns out that a piece of metal got caught in the shifting arm, under the clutch basket. Dealer's first fix was to remove the piece of metal, and send me out on the bike again, only to last 92 miles, Second fix was a tear down of the motor to determine where the metal came from. They said there was a problem with the dampening springs in the back of the basket spiting out metal particles and getting caught in the shifting arm.
Bike is on the road again with a new basket, new shift arm, and a new oil pick up screen, because they torn open the screen to discover metal in it.
I now have about 1500 miles, and it started to hang in a gear once already.
