Well it shouldn't be your oil then cause that's a good synthetic.
Does your clutch lever have good pressure and not a lot of free play?
And how many miles?

The Neutral-1st clunk on my 08 was a minor annoyance when my bike was new, and the engine was cold. Always smooth once warm, and now I have 5000 miles on it, it is no more clunky than any other big Kaw I've owned.

This trans is the best I've ever experienced, missed shifts are about non-existent. Love to shift down to third when passing and then open it up - bam, GONE! Incredible machine.

14k miles. Lever good. Bled it while leaned over. I dropped the oil level to just above the lower mark. About 2/3 of a quart came out. I only put in 4.1. I checked it warm. This did seem to help. Seems smoother.

Play with the adjuster on the clutch lever. And when you shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 do Not be lazy and just before you shift give it a little throttle then shift. I tried this and my 14 shifts smoother. But N to 1st Clunck......... but almost Every Jap bike I have had in 35 years has done that. I must admit the old FJ1200 I have you can be Lazy on shifts and no clunck
except N to 1st. My clutch lever is set so when I just pull it in a little the clutch stars to slip.
Try what I have posted and post back. Just sayin what I did.

Weird, mine shifts great always has. I rarely even need to use the clutch. Clutchless silky smooth upshifts and downshifts for 24000 miles and counting. Maybe you should check you lever reach adjustment orbleed and flush the clutch fluid.

Could be the clutch fluid too. I know after switching to Motul RBF-600 brake fluid on my Red bike the clutch worked better!
Could also explain why my dads blue shifts clunky , cause I just used the standard kawasaki stuff for her.
