Problems shifting with Sato Rear Sets

Did a few hundered miles with the new rear sets installed last couple weeks and everything was fine. Went to go for a ride tonight and the bike would not shift into 3rd and up. So I pulled over and noticed there were some loose fitting and I tightened them all up. Still not shifiting into 3rd and up. 1st, neutral and 2nd are all fine. I was getting worried I was having a tranny problem but my bike has been babied. Anyone else out there have sato's on their 14 and ever run into similar issue

Have you tried switching back to stock to check that it isn't the tranny? Does it shift by hand sitting still while turning the rear wheel?

Is the shifter operating smoothly?
Is the shifter allowing the shift shaft to turn the full amount to engage the gears?
It sounds like there's something binding up .

Put it all back to stock and its fine, must be a adjustment issue with the rearsets.

I have the sato's on my bike for several years now and no problems. I did however use the blue Loctite on all of the nuts on the shift bar to lock them into place once I got the angle on the shifter I liked. It sounds like you have something mounted incorrectly that's not permitting the full movement of the shift bar.

There are several picks of my bike and rearsets on this site...I can post one up of my shift side later today if you would like????

Sounds like the adjust may need to be tighter to shift rod or something never heard anything bad about sato. Was thinking of getting a set myself I like the passenger foot peg bracket set up that can be added.

Nice, I like that gold on black thing! Those rearsets look to have more than enough adjustments to adapt to any whim.

those rear sets allow so much "adjustability" that you can easily be off and the shifting be hosed in certain gears

nice rear sets! I set mine as low as possible for distance riding (comfort). knee-drag rides they go as high as possible.

Wonder if you're able to flip the little pitman arm so you could shift inverted pattern? GP style!

Sato does make the rear sets in reverse shift pattern. Not sure which part would be different from the normal rearsets.

Ive always been a fan of direct action shifters, i hated bikes that had intricate linkages for the shifter, it took away from the direct feel and often made it where more effort was needed to shift. My Honda VFR800 had it direct as well as my 14, i really like it that way.

Yes direct shifters have the best feel but then you can't reverse it to GP or drag style shifting. And some models need linkage to actuate the shifter cause of the location of their shift shaft being way impossible for a direct shifter. The 14 don't have that problem

i've never liked gp style shift. i guess it's the thousands upon thousands of runs i've made shifting with my foot under the lever.

I think you can get a gp style shift from Sato, but it's a different parts kit.

can't you simply rotate the arm on the trans lever side downwards to make it shift reverse?

vortex are reversable,
they all have to be adjusted in the middel of the throw, so the shift forks can push and pull every gear cog and engauge into place.
