Black Fairing Fasteners

I didn't like the small little stainless button screws all over the place on my ZX14 fairings so i replaced them with some black allen aluminum ones. it makes it appear like a once piece fairing since its not so busy looking with so many screws. What do you guys think?

The screws are meant for the windscreen, i bought 3 packages of them to replace many of the same screws. They were $30 for 3 packages. They have the same threading as the fairing screws.

Thanks.......... I noticed you too have the black rubber plugs in frame holes. I used a new corse metal file and shaved rubber of the O.D. and pushed them inside the holes so they fit flush. I need to trim more off so they do not bubble out and lay flat. Wished you have posted pic for exhaust side. was wanting a CF Muzzy silencer.I think?....kind of expensive.
I have CF ram air covers and heel guards and ZX-10 fender is CF, chain guard too. I am done with Bling :-) next year a CNC head, etc it never ends lol :-) Your 14 looks tuff too decals off looks better.

I bought the tiny anodized spiked ones for easy removal works well since I use two screens. No allen wrench needed & I can change them out in about two minutes

You know what, those covers came on the bike when i bought it, the previous owner said that the dealer installed them after something about a frame recall or whatever. He said they removed some bolts, put some new ones in and put in those caps. I didn't even know if they were factory or not.

I am NOT a fan of aluminum bolts. After a few gall up and stretch .... and out comes the easy out.
I have seen powder coated ones, and owned them as well, but the allen wrench doesn't fit in the socket properly after powdercoat.

all a matter of choices and personal experiences I guess.

That's true if it were something that needs to be really tight or regulary removed, but the parts these are being used for isn't really being torqued down very much and isn't regualry removed for anything. I think they will be fine. Some bikes like my Gixxer uses some cheap plastic nylon screws as fasteners on the windscreen.

Yes, It did! Pro-Bolt(USA), I got the full monty kit(Black). Excellent company and product but for that kind of money.... It should be. 3 years ago they had it for $110 but money well spent if you're detailed like me

I use a cordless drill to remove and instal the fastners for the plastic, and it doesn't like aluminum bolts much. 3 minutes plastics off!
The ones with the wellnuts not so bad as the insert is brass
I do overtighten the fairing bolts too, but then have lost any either...

preferance as I stated!

You know it takes him a hour with a allen T handle he honed the end flat on, and deburred the sharp edges as not to cut into finish and it rusts when wet. Q tip and or very soft brush to remove wax build up. Le detail just funnin back with you Lyle....................... Louis.......................

no I have not mounted the Bazzaz yet....been . Busy...rubbing on black clear coat.
My battery died on my cordless, have trick one for it?? :-) I really do want one of your batteries for the 14 but I keep getting speeding tickets :-(

I ordered 24 black bolts today from the place mentioned above but will say that I bought a Milwauke sub compact lith ion drill for removing the plastics and other stuff on the bike. What a world of difference. It took me literally 10 minutes to install a clutch on my bike.

I strongly suggest not using any electric screw drivers or drills for these alloy fasteners, they do not like high speed high torque devices. I used a small allen key with a ball end to tighten mine by hand carefully.
