Insurance ripoffs!!!!

Just got my insurance bill for my 06 ZX14 (Ontario, Canada) and it has doubled from this year to last. In 08 I was paying $800, 09 it went to almost $1600 and this year just under $3000. I have a clean record and I'm 46 with 29yrs ride experience. The problem up here is nobody wants to insure bikes period. Bike dealers have been closing up one after another and I know insurance is one of the main reasons cause if your under 25 forget about owning a sportbike, insurance will be more than the price of the bike. To compare how stupid this is I have only liability on the bike for $3000/yr and have my viper fully insured for $1100 a year. Anyone know any companies out there???

If you are under 25 its even worse, the dealer I bought my bike from which is now gone, complained that for some the insurance is more than what the bike costs. One 19 yr old who wanted a new R6, his insurance was going to be almost a $1000 more for a year than the cost of the bike. The problem here is I can't get my car company to insure the bikes. The only other insurance company that will insure bikes is State Farm and I hate dealing with them, but everything else will cost more. I have no issue paying for anything that is of value at a fair price but $3000 for liability is abit over the top.

It's not in the best interest of the insurance company to charge a lot for insurance. They want to be competitive in the industry to earn your business. It's not their fault that 19 year olds are stupid and wreck r6's.

Hey boxcar thanks, I never thought about the bank insurance, I will give them a call tomorrow asap!!! Well I know the USA has a lot more companies to choose from, here in Ontario we are limited to only a few willing to insure bikes.

Dang, liability only is quite risky for something your bound to crash or drop sooner or later. I have full coverage through State Farm, i paid $136 every 3 months. That rate is for both of my bikes, the 750 and the ZX14 full coverage. Im 31 w/ clean record. Keep in mind if you live in the hicks butt fuck egypt you'll have real low rates, but if you live in a congested accident prone city of Socal LA like me your rates will be higher.
