Smokin would you consider the 13.5 comp ratio safe on a street bike? What I am getting at is would pump 93 and hot humid summer days have the bike in detonation? Could the Muzzy advacer be used to take a few degrees of timing out to prevent it safely? Would a street combo be more like mill omly 15 thousandth off the head and shoot for 13 to 1 compression be a safer bet. Would the higher comp equall higher motor temps as well? It would be real nice to have an extra 10hp in your pocket on bike night.
13.5.1 is a guess on my part ... It could be a bit more or a bit less than 13.5.1 ... Jesses bike didn't have any detonation on the dyno under load but it was only 70 Degs that day ... You might have a problem on a 90 deg day at low low rpms if you put it under heavy loads ..I really think you would be fine with 13.5.1 IF you don't lug the motor .. Keep the RPMs up a bit you should be fine with 92 or 93 octane.. Just don't put it in 6th at 3000 rpms and wack the throttle .. Like we would ever do that anyway ...

I ran 13.5 to 1 for 4 years on the street with a 1375 zx12r and then it was a 1427 cc. Never an issue but use the higher octane fuel where ever you stop.

Like Lee said, never lug the motor.

Jims ( Y2KZX12R ) Super sport head is the way to go... Had i known about his SS package before I had jesses head done I would have gone the way .. 375.00 is a steal ..

Jesse motor is not a true SS motor , it will be lacking 10+ hp from what the guys running SS have .. We knew that going in that we would be short some HP ... Jesse bike is a 06 so his weight will be a total of 670 pounds .. While the 08 09 bikes have to weight in at 680 .. This may help Jesse even the odds a bit ..Jesse also rides this bike on the street and i didn't want him to have to run race fuel all the time so i settled on 13.5.1 ... We will see how Jesse does with the new set up , If he does well we may pull the head back off and send it to Jim for the full SS head package ..

Jims SS head will make great power ( we have seen it in action ) But for the street you will have to run High Octane fuels.. Pump gas is not going to work ..

From what I understand, a true Supersport head would not be a good idea for a street motor. But I know that Jim can tailor the head to fit a street/strip application.

Jim do you think I will be able to get away with 14:1 on my ZRX motor without adding a little booster to each tank?

Teddy some 110 mixed with 93 might be the order of that day..

I think the Stage 1 also adds some CNC porting, and additional cost, but Jim can elaborate more on that...

I hope to send him one of my spare heads very soon.

I'm hoping at worst I can just carry a bottle of booster around with me. It's been fine at 13.5:1 so hopefully the extra 1/2 point wont make it so it's not streetable.
