Its a fit n finish problem, my friends Monster edition ZX14 is the same way. The right side gap is nearly 3 times the size of the left side. It might be a improperly formed plastic mold or a fuel tank that isn't 100% perfectly formed. I also noticed some silver models have clear coat that is not sprayed evenly on some parts of the plastics, it appears slightly hazy and doesn't feel as smooth. Its hard to see on Silver but i found a couple of them like that brand new. QC is starting to seem a bit shabby for Kawasaki quality. I have a Suzuki also and while quality is decent, its not what i come to expect from a Japanese maker, it feels rather domestic quality wise (cheaply put together), so far the best quality motorcycle I've owned was the Honda, the fit n finish was fab but unfortunately i wanted something with a bit more power .
