it's probably because without the clutch mod the busa is pure shit to launch. the clutch on it is either in or out. no in between.

I'm sure it's not the belly wing, as far as mph/et goes. I imagine that SS rules and contingency somehow make the Kaw more appealing?? Maybe Bryan knows the lowdown?

I'm pretty sure the rules say you can remover the back limiter clutch on the 1000s and busa .. ( aka clutch mod )

Last year Kawasaki paid contingency and Suzuki didn't. Thus, we had more Kawasaki's. I am not sure if Kawaski is paying this year or not.....
I think the busa is every bit as fast as the Kaw. When Chip rode, the big bikes had to have a three inch ground clearance. This gave the advantage to the 1000's.

If I put Keith Dennis on a busa it would get real rough for everybody. This is a very tight class. Very hard to ride. Very hard to tune.

The belly pan does help with MPH, but it isn't the end of the world to take it off. It might be 1-2 mph on a busa. We took it off Richard's ZX-14 last weekend and saw no difference.

I give big props to anyone who tries this class. It is very, very hard. I watched Richard Gadson struggle last weekend and he is one of the best. PERIOD.

Rickey Gadson made it look easy.

Look out for the BMW when someone figures it out too.

They probably wont unless the two mphs get off kilter from what hp the engines should be producing.

Funny none of my busa's have been like that. I rode my buddy's stock wheelbase busa with no clutch mod or even heavy springs last year for two passes and went 9.36 and 9.40 with 1.54 60fts with slip-ons and no power comander. he has over 300 runs on his bike with that set up and he weighs 240 unsuited and runs 9.50's no clutch mods. I still say alot of that is sales, gotta make money off those clutch mods. I will get flamed for this comment but just stateing my experience I think with me some of it has to do with I hold my clutch lever at the friction point when I launch which has the clutch parts ramped up against one another so I don't get that bang of the two parts hitting each other when I leave. out of the 6 busa's I race with 3 have the mod and 3 don't and I have rode them all and I'm not good enough I guess to tell the difference. I get about 300 passes out of either a busa clutch or 14 which to me is damn good. and as far as the belly wing I have ran with it on and ran with it off on the same day just to see the difference and for me there was none in mph. maybe if your running closer to 160 it comes into play but at 149 to 150 I saw no difference.

The busa clutch should last a long time... you can't slide the fuking thing. The ones that I have ridden have that In or out feeling. I like the fact that I can launch my bike at 7k and not have to worry about looking at either sky or spinning. Anyone that says the busa has a decent clutch is fucking high. The reason that it's "so hard to ride" is because the clutch blows.

I have riden both. The ZX-14 has the best clutch in the class. Brock's Performance has mods that make the clutch in a busa work. In the end it is all about setting up the bike right, money, and a great rider.

I would love to see a class with all the great names in it.

And I don't even drink! guess I won't make a good pass all year as I will have no clutch mod just spacers on my springs for alittle extra pressure cause I like a stiffer feel.

To sell parts I suppose, he does make a living off of that you know. Some guys have issues some don't I don't. but then I suppose I may be stuck in the 10.0's this year means I don't have one.

If the clutch mod is legal for SS, then it is a moot point. I know the Busa clutch can be improved, but I also know of plenty that have went fast without it.

Now, a bad clutch for drag racing is a tiny little 1000 clutch...especially for a big guy. You will kill one of those quick!

We haven't even seen 5 Gen 2 busa at the track here since they came out ..I think we have seen a total of 3 at the track since 08 ..One stone stocker , one with a turbo and one of Brocks tricked out Busas that is owned by a friend of Brocks . . Mostly we see zx14s and Suki 1000s .. I sure it's different else where but that is what we see here ..

Ya smokin you know it's different here we have talked about it. 14's do not sell here. my dealer did not even order a 2010 as he can't sell his 08 and 09 that is still there. don't really get it but that's the way it is. he did not order enough 08-09 Busa's Now that I sold mine there will not be a 14 at the tracks around here at all. It's just not the 14 around here though he has a harder time selling any of the kawasaki sport bikes over the suzukis I would be pretty safe to say all other sprotbikes around here out sell the kawaskis. maybe him not getting 2010 suzukis this year will clear out his kawasakis but I'm guessing not. He has dealers every day calling to ask if he has a busa for a dealer trade but he never has gotten one call from a kawasaki dealer asking for a 14. it's really to bad cause they are great bikes. on any giving night we have 8 to 10 gen2's at our track.
