Fastest Bike at The Mojave Mile ZX14

Went to the Mojave Mile this last weekend with my blue '06 ZX14.

What a great time.

Although it was cloudy, windy and cold as hell, the rain was held at bay and the event went off without a hitch.

My wife, Karen and my good friends Larry and Vivian and I were pitted next to Karl and his better half Brenda and their very fast ZX12.

I was experimenting with E85 and had very little time tuning for the event as we've had a butt load of rain in Phoenix, so my expectations were very low. I turned out that my guess at mapping was pretty darn good. The data logger showed a very flat A/F line. All I had to do was throw some more fuel at it.

Traction was a problem with the cold and the winds were very strong across the track and slightly in our face. The only vehicle to break 200 was "The Big Red One" Camaro with a 200.7 mph run.

My best pass of 195.2 can be seen here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3s9XZupdHE

Thanks to the folks at MKM who put on a great event. Rumor has it that they'll be putting on a 2 day event in late Sep. or early Oct. Everyone should attend.

Thanks to Karen, Larry and Vivian for helping me stay calm while we turned and burned to get the job done.

Also a special thanks to Karl for lighting the fire and making me try a little harder.

Kawasaki finished 1st and 2nd.

Yahoo!!!!!!

Tom

On the dyno, about 10 hp

I ran 208.32 at Texas on MR11 against Karl's 208.74

At Mojave I went 195.2 on E 85 compared to Karl's 195.0

Therefore I am "assuming" that I am making somewhere close to the same hp as MR11 and that is assuming that Karl made no changes to his bike.

I do not have specific dyno data to back that up tho'

If work picks up and I can afford to spring for a can, I might try to do a back to back between E85 and MR11 or maybe the MR12 when I go to Texas at the end of the month.

I REALLY like the $2.45 per gallon part

Hey madnessracing, I'm still curious about your question about the Tach

Very nice. You'll pick up a couple more MPH if you put your head where the camera was pointing--

It's the speedometer, not the tach. It stuck at 90 for some reason.

Well done and a nice piece of video. You said you were geared 18/40 and it looked like you crossed the line in 5th?
18/40 is good for about 220mph in 6th but I guess you knew that. You need a lot of HP to pull that gearing.
195mph in 5th geared 18/40 is about 10,600rpm (that's true rpm, not the bike's tacho) so you were nearly at the rev limiter.

That's very respectable performance from a relatively "small" motor! I am considering the same basic setup, but with a +4 crank.

I have the modified countershaft nut which causes the speedo to read half speed. Add to that the tall gearing...
