Now I just want to hear your feedback and suggestions as you what you think is the correct way to break in the motor...The owners manual way or the down and dirty way(Ride it like you stole it). Thanks for your opinions...

new bikes from the dealer have been heat cycled at the factory, then again from dealer.
Its been cycled enough to beat on it once its warm. I like to load the engine without revving it past 7000 rpm for the first 20 miles or 20 minutes whichever comes first ...for the bearings

quote: The best way to break -in any new motorcycle is to drop it off at my house on friday around noon with a full tank of gas. You can pick it up monday, fully broken in and no charge.
If you leave the supplies, I'll get take care of the first oil change for you .
BEST DEAL GOING.
I have shared this link with some fellow riders as well and we all agree as this has been some of the best knowledge. WE strongly believe in ride it like you stole it and change the oil out at 20 mi. Then again at 500, then 1000 and 1500. Switching to Synthetic at 1500 is a +. Just as mentioned before make sure your bike is warmed up first.

The most logical thing I came across were that new parts needed time to implode the surface, meaning, a shot peen effect on the moving parts.
Take the skirts on the pistons. They smack against the wall when changing direction. This shot peen shrinks the skirt so as to break in to a running tolerance. The crank insert bearings are going to ever so slightly peen, so the push/pull effect of the connecting rod acting like a hammer on the bearing insert; when it stops at TDC/BDC is that tight running bike in the beginning.
One reason the BMW uses the ECU to limit your RPM so you can shrink the parts, not score them on break-in.
Newly built NASCAR engines, are warmed, then run them up to a 2,000rpm limit for 30 minutes and she is ready to go.
Any owner that bought new, can sense a time the bike 'felt tight' and is more loosened up now. That was the shot peen effect of shrink to fit. That is one reason the factory does not explain the reason, just what rpm to break the bike in.

Take care of it cycling rpms for 1st 100 miles in my opinion, then I change oil and rape it like a rented mule, and change oil again at 300 miles, then at 1000 miles, and then I treat it like it's not new anymore.
