How do you properly break in a new 08 14??

Hey ladies and gents...once again, I am a new 08 14 owner. I have heard conflicting suggestions on how to properly break in the motor. Now I just want to hear your feedback and suggestions as you what you think is the correct way to break in the motor...The owners manual way or the down and dirty way(Ride it like you stole it). Thanks for your opinions...

Fluctuate the RPM's on any first long hwy rides to seat the valves nicely and take her easy at first is all I did. oil change at 500 & its good to go hard after.

Ride it how you're going to when it's broken in (with the exception of top speed runs). If you ride it like a grandpa it'll run like shit for the rest of its life. Change the oil at 500 Miles and after that you'll be good to do whatever you want with it.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Switch to a good full synthetic after the 600 mile break in too and she'll be a good girl!

If you're new to the 14 4000 rpm for the first 500 mis and 6000 rpm til 1000 mis is for rider break in. Maybe I over do it but 500 mile oil changes for 1500 mis then 1500 between
changes with 20w- 50 dino. This has worked for me on 4 new kaws since '97, zero problems.

Mine had a 106 miles on it and it was at the track. I rode it home then a day later I took it to the track. Been beating on it ever since and not heard no complaints.

My dealer said to ride it off the lot like I stole it.

I had a PC -n- pipe on it and on the dyno by 100 miles.

So far so good at 10K.

First oil change when it got home at 30 miles.

I had a PC on it and on the dyno by 100 miles. Another oil change following the dyno when I got home at 120 miles, then 500, 1000K and now about each 1500 miles since.

So far so good at 10K.

Rode mine home about 30 miles from the dealership. Ran it through the RPM range in each gear as I normally ride. Changed the oil and then the next day.......Ride it like you stole it!!
Changed to synthetic oil after 1K miles and continued to ride it like you stole it!!!

Everyone has heard a bunch of stuff, but think about this. They only bikes I've ever heard of blowing up or burning oil are the ones that did proper break-in!!!!! The key is to get the oil out asap, and ride it HARD!!!!! Use a lot of engine compression to slow you down, not brakes. When you pull hard through the gears, leave it at high rpm and let the engine slow you down. This creates a lot of vacuum which is good for a new motor.

I have heard this before most all metal shavings in oil will happen in the first 20 to 40 miles.

on a fresh build as in new bearings and rings ect, never been fired,
start it, let it warm up to operating temp, shut it off. leave it alone till its pretty cool. fire it up, let it get to temp, rev it a couple times, shut it off and let it cool. start it, let it warm up, do a burnout, shut it off. next time ride it hard and start tuning, no constant rpm. change filter, top up oil. take it to the track for a day, change oil and filter.

Haha, i like that "ride it like you stole it" When i got my 750 brand new in 08 i basically did a burnout right out of the dealer lot. You can beat the motor all you want, just make sure its totally warmed up before you do it, that's always been my rule.

The best way to break -in any new motorcycle is to drop it off at my house on friday around noon with a full tank of gas. You can pick it up monday, fully broken in and no charge.
If you leave the supplies, I'll get take care of the first oil change for you .
BEST DEAL GOING.
