Thanks Seth.

The ram air system is the only real "reinvention". With the assistance of a child hood friend who is so over qualified to do this project its scary. With his help I'm going to design a new very efficient system.
I'll get into all this in another thread as that project gets rolling. I'll see if I can get him on here to shed some light on aerodynamics and duct work. He specialized in this with Northrup on the B2 bomber and other planes etc.

I'll post what I'm going to sell in the classified section in a few weeks or so.

It's funny that you mention the ram air, I've been kicking this project around myself for about a year. Of course I can only go so far with my rudimentary math skills! I guess I need to have more friends who are engineers.

I think it was to my detriment that I met all of my speed goals last year. It made me lose interest in the project somewhat...maybe I will start tinkering again.

Well I'll be making new ducts. Maybe I'll make a few sets...

I took the engine out today and I'm making a new mount to hold this engine on the engine stand. Its quite a bit different than the zx12r engine. None of my other mounts will fit it.

I'm working on a new stage 3 head for HTP right now. Its going to be the first of the new design for the really big zx14 engines.

I'll be out of the shop for a week on vacation and then out to LA to do some tuning, photoshoot, and some track testing at Hondas test facility for Sport Rider. The week I get back I'll be finishing up the stage 3 head. so its going to be 3-4 weeks before I'll have any details.

Well the engine is all torn down and the block and crank are going out next week.

I'll start a new thread in a few weeks on the engine build up.

at our track when he gets the clutch set up on it I expect to see some 5.50's @ 126-128 on it. I fully expect for him to have the fastest 1000 on the west coast when he's done if that tells you anything. I mean think about it. This is the son of the legendary RUSS COLLINS!

He has been working on it for a while if it is the one I last talked to him about. He said Russ Sr. will walk by when he is working on it and ask "whatcha doin?" but doesnt lay a hand on bikes at all anymore. I rode one of Russ Collins creations back in the late 80's and damn near killed myself on it. Actually about 4 of us tried to get it straight down the track. Way more power than I knew and the chassis must have been tweaked or something. I was totally intimidated. Some guys get butterflies in their stomachs, I had fruit bats. Ironic, 06red and I were just talking of this 2 days ago...

I still run a set of his RC388 cams in my KZ1000 that I bought new 32 years ago!
(whew, talk about telling our age)
I've met him several times, he was the man back in the days.
