Finally got to ride the 06ZX14 for the first time...
And I figured I would give a quick review....first off I will list some of the bikes I had before.
BMW F650
BMW R1100S
Triumph Sprint 1050
Ducati 749
Triumph Rocket
BMW K1200S
Yamaha VMAX
Yamaha FZ1
Odviously a list that is all over the place above LOL!
Engine 10 out of 10
The way this motor makes power is bonkers. Very smooth compared to my brothers busa.
Brakes 10 out of 10
Coming from linked ABS systems of the past (on my BMW's) makes me wonder why the hell BMW decided to even put ABS on a bike. This bike brakes even better than my Fazer which had R1 brakes on it. It's gonna take me awhile to get used to these things without breaking my wrists!
Handling
8 out of 10
Alot better than I originally expected. Goes through corners very well and has enough torque to be in the wrong gear and still go through smooth. It's no 749 but it does weigh much more and have double the power.
Comfort
9 out of 10
Would get a 10 easy if it had a little bit better wind protection. My bike came with 1 inch bar risers and the stock seat is great. Today was 42 degrees and my legs were the only real part of me that got cold. I realize it's not a touring bike BUT it still has pretty decent wind protection.
Overall I can already tell this is the BEST bike I have ever owned! It has the best brakes and most power easily and it looks stunning (especially in red).
As far as the butterfly issue is concerned on the 06's I finally got to experience what everyone is talking about. It feels very similar to my vmax with the butterfly's opening up at 6K. All of a sudden it feels like you hit the nitrous button...LOL! It does make the bike a little bit trickier to ride around corners BUT I don't think it's as big of a deal as others have stated. I already have a power commander for the bike and will be removing those secondary butterfly's shortly.
As you can see I am very happy with this animal so far!

That's my thought! Kawi needs to be the 1st sport bike to be 2000cc's. That will bring new meaning to insanity lol!
