Motor going, shiny particles in oil.

Installed cycle logics lockup yesterday I brought off member here, After I completed install & began pouring oil out of pan into container under bright light, I saw some tiny shiny particles in oil. Bike has ran fine up too this point, I have a spare so Im not worried. I was wondering if anyone saw tiny particles in their oil & bike still run for awhile afterwards. After seeing this I listened too the engine with a stethoscope & could here a light knock, I compared the sound to my buddy's bike & I did not hear the knock. I guess I will be changing motors here shortly. What else is a good indicator of bearing failure, I heard of cutting open the oil filter.

have you strained the oil through a cloth to make absolutely sure it is metal?

i highly doubt the motor is going, i mean as the motor wears its going to wear some of the metal naturally. pssh as long as that bad boy is runnin strong i wouldnt worry about it.

when i worked on cars it wasnt uncommon to see "shiny" oil during a lube change

Don't plan on removing it until it gets a significant knock, Loss of oil pressure, or starts to run bad. Interested in seeing the inside of the motor too see the affects of the Nos on the pistons & too see if there was any contact between the pistons & valve due to valve float with stock springs on the 60 shot. My other motor has the valve springs & retainers plus head work. I wanted too see how the motor would hold up. I will rebuild this motor after I put the the other one on the bike, I just don't beleive in buying a lot of expensive parts unless it's needed, Rods, Pistons, & So on. I watched too many people go threw their motors with all good stuff & have more problems than the guy beside them that remained stock with everything else remaining the same. Plus I ride a lot on the street, So my bikes can never be dedicated to race only. The funny thing is, My bike ran it fastest 1/8 mile time on motor the last time at the track and hasn't been ridden 5 miles since.
