A little stock wheel base fun at the track ..
I put my 09 zx14 back to stock wheel base last week ..I swapped gears from 16/41 back to 17/40 and added a new Oring chain ..I put back on all the factory parts , mirrors , pegs , Belly wing ,tools and tool box ..I even put back on the factory mud flap ...  I pumped her full of 87 pump gas and headed to the track ... I dropped air pressure down to 28 in the rear tire and made my first pass ..Ok don't laugh , i ran a 6.80 @ 80 MPH .. I wheeled and shut it down , i never got out of first gear .. I forgot how hard it is to ride a stock wheel base bike ... Second pass i took it much easier and ran a 6.17 @ 121 ... Third i ran a 6.07 @ 123 ... Fouth run was a repeat of the third run 6.08 @ 123 ... Number five was the money run 5.96 @ 123 ... My 6th and last run was a 6.00 @ 123 .. So i left for home feeling pretty good with a 5.90 pass .. I forgot just how much fun a zx14 is at stock wheel base ..  I'm pretty sure this 09 will run 5.80s with a little more seat time ...The 09 seems just a bit faster than my 06 zx14 , the best at stock wheel base on my 06 was 5.99 ..

Doing a little research, the change in primary gearing is about 1/2 a tooth shorter overall gearing. That, plus I imagine some ecu changes, is possibly where the better performance comes from on the 08 and up.
Purely speculation, of course..
Definitely flying at swb.

Smokin and Nooby have the same spray bar! look real close at noobys swingarm photo, you can see the solenoid

I thought that was a 5.98 pass to my 5.96 pass?  Either way you put down some #'s in only a couple passes.

Smokin, you didn't say if you were you still running it with a pipe and PC, or if the bike was stock height.

Yes it's still lowered, pipe and P/C I was running brocks street map with the autotune turned on ..

I want to ride the bike more on the street .. i'm trying to make it cheaper to get to the track by driving the bike to the track . 9 mpg in my truck towing the bike is killing me ..

I ride my bike 45 min each way through the canyons when I race. I think I average about 20 dollars on food and drinks though since I can't take a cooler with me. One of these days I'm going to buy me a 4cyl. S-10 to haul it in lol. Or maybe a trailer hitch and tiny trailor to pull behind my wifes jetta lol.
Those are some good numbers smokin. What's jesse james running at swb these days?

That is why i have my 9 mpg truck for sale along with my inclosed trailer .. If i can pick up a little truck and an open trailer i could save a ton on fuel ..Untill i do that i'm just going to ride the bike to the track ..
Jesse has run some low 6s , i think his best so far is 6.02 @ 122 ..

I sold my 10mpg ford f250 and bought a jetta tdi. My next purchase is an open trailer, and I'll be sipping 40mpg while towing my bike. It doesn't get better then that! I don't even get 40mpg with my bike!!!!!!!!! Plus I'll be worry free at the track, have a packed lunch, and blasting a/c there and back.
