I am still considering a multistage but havent quite made up my mind. I chased the setup on my single for a good bit of time but the multi seems to be easier to tune to me. If money was not an object the Hays would be on its way. So, what are y'all doing this season?

with a 1.30 something 60ft what more do you want .. me just hand clutch
Not much more on the short times really, just better big end. Getting a single tuned right usually means it gives up a little on the big end. I am off a few hundredths from last year. It is only a thought right now..

How does the single give up a little on the big end?

When you actually tune it to work by throwing the lever you have a balancing act. It will not give you good first half numbers with too much weight and it will not give the best back half with too little weight. You split the difference or pick what you want the best of. Right now I am giving up 2-3 hundredths back half.
A multi lets you tune on both ends of the rpm by having the arms held back by springs and a few at a time come in at different wheel rpms.

You may be able to add a little more spring now that you have a better shock. Then again you put down some good numbers. May be best to just let it alone for a while.

It may be just my luck because I got the very 1st Hays converitable for zx14, which didn't fit and had to have the pressure plate redesigned, but I haven't been able to get the Hays to 60' at all, I have set it up the way he recommended and NOX, it did get better with NOX's setup, but nowhere near what others are getting for 60's, I called Hays and he has given me some other things to try and I will when the track opens back up, best 60' so far is 1.53. I just installed a new Penske drag shock so I am hoping everything comes together the next time out, I will say I think getting the rear shock setup correctly, either by revalving or a new shock is way better dollars spent than a clutch, there are plenty of guys cutting killer 60's with stock hand clutches and good chassis tuning, the multi's are good for doing it over and over.

from what I hear the Gen II is better for tunability, but comes with a heavier price tag

I'm sure you and anyone wanting a billet aftermarket clutch cheap would, but I'm not done with testing it just yet, I got it at the end of the season and didn't get to mess with it a lot, so I'm giving it a full season and see how it goes.

Hays is $1850 with clutch cover spacer, the new T3 with 6 arms is $2350
