Anyone running new clutch setups?

I am still considering a multistage but havent quite made up my mind. I chased the setup on my single for a good bit of time but the multi seems to be easier to tune to me. If money was not an object the Hays would be on its way. So, what are y'all doing this season?

I would seriously consider a multi or Hays, but I don't want to spend half of the season learning to tune it.

Seems like a lot of trial and error??

The Hays has been quite easy to tune for mostly everyone that buys them it seems. Multis seem to eat people's lunch....and clutch plates.lol

Not much more on the short times really, just better big end. Getting a single tuned right usually means it gives up a little on the big end. I am off a few hundredths from last year. It is only a thought right now..

I have a set at my house, they are real heavy. I believe it was around 82lbs per spring/spacer. spacer alone added close to 20lbs. I wouldn't run all 5 unless you are making 300+ hp to the rear tire.

nope, stock hand clutch and the adams real street clutch setup isnt really needed unless you are making 300+ to the tire, imo..

running my "voodoo" mtc lock up. its not sure if its a single stage or multi stage. i have some arms held back with springs to "kick in" later than the rest. it let me back off the weight a bit on the first arms to my NA setup, and the other arms come in later to hold the extra power if i spray. just running it as a normal single it would wheelie bad if i had a lot of weight on it (for spray). the chassis also wasnt right, so that played a big part too. i was getting close at the end of the season. IMO a multi is the way to go if you have a big power adder or a short bike. singles are fine for na

I did try this exact same thing on mine and it felt like a multi. Then I exploded a spring and havent tried it again. Since Cycle Logic has the new arms with dual weight holes, I might fiddle again with it this summer..if I dont buy a multi first.

Tim Hays wants over $100 for his conversion kit, and will not sell just the springs seperate. I spent $6 (yes six) at RCC and made something similar to the Hayes setup. IMO better. Tim wasnt helpful at all. Richard had EXCELLENT customer service. for that reason I will never have a Hays clutch. the next one i get will be a multi, more than likely a gen 2 by MTC
