Update from Guhl Motors (zx14 ecu flash)
I called and they now have the capability to flash your ecu. Send it in, and they can do a number of things.
raise rev limit
fuel control
timing control
and i think a couple other things
What I'm holding out for is the tuning software. As I understood, in time they will be offering tuning software packages for different prices. I believe this will allow you to flash your ecu via your own computer and tuning software. The rep stated that this won't be outrageously expensive, as they have to make it marketable.
They will sell it in a couple packages (these are guesses of their packages, not what they will actually be offering)
a full race package (all of the ecus capabilities are unlocked)
fuel, timing and rev limit package
fuel and timing package
fuel package
The rep also stated they might have the capability to tune two different maps onto the ecu. So you could have a dry nitrous map, and a fuel map stored onto the ecu. cool huh!
as I said, none of this is gospel, it is simply as I understood what they told me.

Right now it's $375 to have it flashed. Or, at least that's where it stood a few weeks back.

I' m digging this back up.
Looking for anyone on here that has had Guhl flash a gen 1 with a dry nos map/motor map combo.
Also wondering about soft limiter and how much to extend rev limit with a stock motor for best peak power.
Of course a map with my PC will be on top of what they do to the pcm.
Any updates or knowledge on the gen 1 flash?

Don't think they will send you the ECU reflash software via e mail so you can download it yourself and save time and shipping charges....if they did that they can't make any money, cause everyone would be re-emailing the ECU download reflash to their buddies and they would be left out of the constant flow of ECU's that come in the mail every day, and miss out on that $375.00.
Takes about two minutes to plug your ECU into his computer and hit send button, back in the box, and next day it is shipped back to you......

Of course, I didn't expect an emailed map from them. I know I have to send my ecu.
The questions I have are for those who have got their gen 1 ecu flashed, and the other above questions on if Guhl has the dual flash available.

That's a comment which could be misunderstood.
You aren't paying for the couple of minutes it takes to reflash an ECU, you're paying for the time spent researching and developing.
I sent my bike's ECU from England and had it back inside a week, great service and good value for money.

There are still those of us that race that would have to have the ability to tune at the track. Conditions change by the minute and the only way to stay on top of it is to be able to tune it yourself. I among others would gladly pay for it if it was available. The soft ware could be sold with a dedicated ECU and the only way to get it to work with another ECU would be to send your current ECU/software package back to them for an exchange. The 14 has been out for over 6yrs and still no one sells software to program it! I suppose it's supply and demand.

Fair point but there is so much more in an ECU than fuel maps, timing etc. Scope for people to get themselves into a whole lot of trouble, whereas Dynojet is relatively simple and getting back to square one is easy. Motec is worth a look though, especially for the more powerful forced induction motors.

Is there any Dynojet software/hardware that is currently available to tune the stock ECU and make the upgraded changes that Guhl offers for his $375.00 ECU upgrade, for less money or a better ECU modification?
Seems to me that DynoJet would be excited about offering an ECU upgrade you could do by yourself with your laptop....and give you a list of the changes you want to make to your stock ECU at home.

Anyone know anything about the piasini clone flashing tool ?? i see a listing on Kawasaki bikes, and the arctic cat but not specifically the 14
Also Woolich will be coming out with a zx14 flash soon, he has the zx6 done and the 10 is close
it will be on similar lines to the version of editor he has reworked
Been a long time coming, but looks like the ability to track or dyno tune your own ecu is just about here
