I run 16/48. I cross the finish line in the middle of 6th. Remind you my fastest mph is 149. I'm 194lbs unsuited. If I had to do it over I would do 16/47.

Ask wheelie, I busted the 2 other guys ass that live here with close to same setup (minus pizza sprocket) and I can't convince them to put one on... Am I the only person that will listen to wheelie?

It's definitely a delicate ballance to find the correct gearing that you can ride and that will also give you the maximum acceleration for your weight and engine power.

16/46 seems to work really well for me at 170 lbs unsuited. meh, maybe i should put liike 18/34 gearing on. then i could cross in 1st gear and not have to lose those .05 from my shifts  .

Dusty, I doubt you will convince many people when guys are going much faster using much less gear.
That much gear doesn't suit everyone's riding style. It works for you guys right now, and that's what counts.
Keep an eye on those 330' times.

The less agressive you are with the throttle at launch, the more the big gear will suit you. If you are launching at 7k, and under 64" with 16/48, you are either slipping the clutch a lot or being easy with the throttle. That's not even open for debate!
It works for you, now, and that is great. 
No one setup fits every riding style.

There is nothing "wrong" with them, Dusty. But even with nearly a .10 better 60 ft, your 330's are sometimes just the equal to mine, and almost always within .01 -.03. Since you have more wheelbase, and more weight up front, that should really let you hammer the bike hard. You have 5 teeth more gear than I am running.
To me your 330' is a sign that you are not getting the throttle open as quickly as you might, and it is likely because of all that gear. I know there are a lot of variables, but that is just what I suspect.
I am not claiming to be the best rider around, just telling you what the slip is telling me.

Same here. I try to gear so I can be on the trottle as fast a possible without staring at the sky. Of course your clutch hand has a lot to do with it as well.

Not fast enough it seems for most of us.
Controlling the clutch for the 16/48 where it could be usable to most average riders may be why it is not so popular. Another reason might be that double duty bikes dont like all the revs cruising around.

300LBS suited true heavy hitter here
my $2.00 is ive tried all gearing from 18/41 to 16/49 and so far what works for me is 17/45.
but my best 60 ft is 1.50's ..yeah i hit a 1.48 once and wheelie 30ft out and had a shit run..
.
so i don't know what the hell to do any more with gearing ..
but i'm done testing my shits dailed in for bracket racing ..

I agree Dusty that 16/46 would be better for you. On less shift would help your time. Also are you crossing the line in the middle of 6th? If so you want it pegged at 11k in fifth or 6th when you cross the line. You will MPH better plus your
wheel will be a hair further back and probably not shifting 4 times before the 1/8th.

I know that I can't really compare because of my altitude, but I'm in the mid-top of 3rd in the 1/8th. I'll keep an eye on it this Saturday at the track.
