Fuel pump going South?
Almost 36k miles now have a new problem. Throttle response hesitates then kicks in. It was slight then more severe. A ZX-14 in Utah is like snow shoes in Florida. The filter is in the fuel pump and is the first suspect. Advise? Can get to the machine shop next week and hook up all the test gauges. Experience counts and saves time.

what you need to know .. you can pull the filter out of the fuel pump .. it also can be you regulator.. maybe a boost leak or more boost .. injectors ...power commander ..

My experience with zx-14 fuel pumps going south has been a complete failure. At 40,000 and change one came into my shop with absolutely No action from the fuel pump . The bike ran perfect untill it was shut off. It wouldn't re-start and a new fuel pump fixed it.
The owner said no warning signs at all ,just wouldn't start all of a sudden.
Could be your bike needs a throttle body sync?

Throttle body sync is perfect, road many miles is salty wet conditions. When I can ride it to the shop and clean the connections and do a further inspect. Don't have a trailer so must ride in good weather. At this many miles must look at everything. The ZX-14 is a true street bike with a lot of abuse. Nothing compared to what you guys do though. It is still a good daily ride but tweeky with the turbo and do not wish to damage the motor.

Sounds electrical... If you have access to a dyno the problem can be narrowed down by seeing what the air fuel looks like at the rpm the problem exists at , and the dyno operator should be able to see if the spark cuts out at a certain rpm.

After I do the basic maintenance, Salt Lake Motorsports will take a look if can't find the problem. Snow, snow for now. Will not take this to the local Kaw dealer, the Ducati mechanics Know their stuff and have a reliable dyno.
