Who has tried what, and what works well?

man, dont think ur gonna get an answer 2 this question. i would like 2 know myself but it seems as though this is like top secret info! No 1 will hardly speak on cams and/or head jobs. lol

hi
i am running carpenter race cams , along with the valve spring kit tit retainers , and modded zx12 cam tensioner. i also have j&e 13.5-1 pistons, balanced crank and rods , and a ported head .
power comander, and ignition module fitted , crankcase breather mod done , worth 2-3 hp , and full ti force ex system , and makes 210 hp din on dyno

You can't run very much of a cam without changing pistons, afaik.

Can you get any gains with just a mild cam?

Carpenter and others bore out the buckets holes and use busa buckets for clearance with big cams,yes u can gain with mild cams with a good piston ,port and fuel setup.

when I talked to adams they said they don't even put cams in there race motors really difficult to make them worth the $$$

The are not showing any additional hardening costs. They aren't weld-ups.

At least that is the way I read it.

believe it or not the 14s cams are pretty good thats why even to cut emmissions it has catalizers in the exhaust and it still reads rich on the dyno wich in turn reads a lower hp number but change to an aftermarket exhaust and it wakes way up so do u need cams no do u want cams its up to u.my2ct.

That should work out to 200 to 205hp SAE.
