Givi bags on a ZX-14?
So, I'm going back to school and of course motorcycle parking is damn cheap, and plenty more spots.
I saw a Zx-14 going down the street with what looked to be a Givi bag on the back, dead center, not off the side.
I can't find any links to a solo bag install, perhaps a homemade job?
As for side bags it looks like the Corbins and the Givi are the two best choices?
Will either of them hold a helmet?

The bag and bracket are purchased separately, but the bracket may be purchased at the following link.

Thanks for the link.
whenthey say that the "Rear Cover" on North American bikes must be cut, are they talking about the seat cowl or the rear fender section?

I have the Givi V35 Monokey sidebags. They are a quality built and mount very solidly to the bike. When riding, I can't even tell they are on the bike, unless I look back.
They will fit a medium helmet, if you position it just right. I haven't tried anything larger.

Kool, good info.
A medium helmet with no room to spare, or maybe a bit. I want to lock up my gear inside one of the bags so i dont have to worry about it getting rained on or stolen.
Got a rough estimate on total costs including hardware?

Here's the funny part. There is an American website www.giviusa.com that shows the range of products you can buy. However it doesn't allow you to select the ZX14 as the bike you want to outfit and it doesn't seem to offer the V35 sidecase anyway. There are other models of bags but I don't think there is a suitable mounting frame for the 14.
However, if you go to the Canadian website www.givi.ca, guess what? You can select the 14, and the V35 is available. Prices are (in Canadian $ @ 94 cents on the dollar), cases $620, mounting frame $217, and optional inner soft bags $90. That may seem like a lot, but for anyone using bags a lot, it's well worth it. I'm sure you can get these items from any local Givi dealer.
The frame takes about 20 minutes to attach or remove, after some practice. The bags attach and lock to the frame in seconds, and remove just as quickly.
One small caution: If you have long exhaust pipes, they may be slightly too high for the bags to clear. I had to lower the pipes at the rear mounting point by adding a small bracket on each side. This lowered the pipes by about 3/4" at the back end, which did not really affect the appearance of the bike. The brackets stay on all the time and are not an issue at all.

It's the piece directly above the brake light, between the light & the rear of the seat. On the european models, this piece has cutouts for a passenger grab bar.

I have Givi bags on my 14 and love them. They look good on the bike carry a fair bit of stuff and clear my Brock pipe with room to spare. And when its dragrace time i just take them off and race. They clip on very quickly with a key to unlock.I actually leave them on all the time ,Even for a quick putt,And a bonus with them on, cops don't seem to take as much notice of you. I would post a picture of my bike with them on but can't seem to figure out how to do that.

I recently put the the givi's on my 2008 and was really happy with the result. I spend more time touring on my 14 than anything and never really liked tail bags. Here's from pics of the 35's with swmotech racks.

I'm amazed at how Givi designed the 14 luggage so nice.
Anyone remember that goofy crap that Corbin offered

But is better designed for hauling stuff - I have both. The Connie does the job perfectly - my ZX is perfect for what it's designed for.
Still - that bag setup above looks damn good for what it is, just not my cup of tea.

I usually keep up with the latest ZX14 products, I didn't realize such a product exists that looks this nice. For the sport biker that wants to take an occasional weekend trip (not often enough to justify owning a full-on sport tourer),GIVI is the deal right here!

Would it be possible to get a few picks of the harness with the bags removed… and some idea of the time required to mount / remove the harness system from the bike...

Overall I am really pleased. the idea was never to leave them on all the time as the concours. Rather have the option of commuting easily without a backpack or if I wanted to go to the store for the odd item it would be easy.
I put a shoe in the bag for scale, keep in mind the lid is almost as deep. There really is a good amount of space. You will not fit a helmet though. As far as removing the rack, there are four half turn lock screws that engage/disengage the rack. I pointed the screwdriver at one of them. I took a pic of the top of the case as well. One button is for opening the case, the other for taking the case off the rack. The bags and racks can be off in literally under a minute.
Funny thing is I actually went in to buy the concours. The salesman laughed at me and said I was too young. He had to talk me into test riding the 14 and it turned out I really liked it..the fact that they were really dealing on the 08 14's helped too.

Quick question do the bags fit with a brocks pipe or just the factory doubles???

Just about any pipes should work with the bags, including anything from Brocks. In my case I had to add small brackets to lower my Akrapovics since they mount slightly higher than the OEM pipes (see my post above). The vast majority won't need any adjustment.
