Catalyst Seat
I just wanted to share my experience with the catalyst racing seat. First of all I want to make it clear that this is a quality product and looks very nice. If you are a light weight like myself and are short I highly recommend not installing this seat. I rode a 14 with this seat and 100% gods honest truth when I left the starting line my ass slid back so hard into the fiberglass lip it almost made me vomit! I hit that little tail bone thing or what ever you call it and it just HURT! I decided to not be judgemental and made one more pass with it and same results except this time every time I shifted it slammed my tail bone into the lip of the seat. I guess its the perfect height for my tail bone or something. Another complaint that I had was that I could not get my weight over the tank which resulted in bad 60ft times. It still hurst when I sit down ( I know I'm a vag but just sharing with any lightweights out there)

Noob your just.. Well. Ya know! my ass is big enough it fills up from front to back of the seat! Naw, really, the way I take off is I go ahead and scoot al the way back in the seat (it also helps my big belly tuck) and there no slamming into the back of the seat.

They have a seat that is smaller in the pocket for jockey-sized guys like yourself. That is probably the one you need.
I love mine; even for street rides sometimes it is fine...

The catalyst seat helped big time for me. I was sliding back hard on the stock seat and making it very difficult to foot shift. First time at the track I was really digging it...until about the 4th or 5th time I launched it and realized that my coccyx (tailbone) was really starting to hurt. After a few more launches my assbone was in PAIN. I truthfully could not sit down easily for over two weeks - no exaggeration. About three weeks later when I went back to the track, I taped a gel bicycle seat cover to it. I took a lot of grief for that ugly ass thing, but it worked. I later bought a gel pad and glued it on, then painted it the same scheme as the stock seat/cowl. Doesn't look to bad, and I don't have anymore problems with it.

A lot of leathers have a padded area where your tailbone is; most likely for reasons such as this.
My whole body aches after a day at the track, I don't worry about it too much.

No Shane, I'm not talking about being sore, which I am as well after a night at the track, I'm talking about a severely bruised tailbone where I could barely sit for a couple of weeks. Ouch! Here is my original bicycle seat abomination.

And here is my seat with a covered gel pad, paint, and chrome nin symbol. Not too bad looking, and believe me when I say it helps.

One bit of warning, which Halvefast warned me about before I got the drag seat; it can and will break your lower seat fairing.

I've bruised my tailbone as well, but that is why I got some leathers with that are padded in that area. It makes sense to have the pad added to the leathers, imo.
I got the same sore tailbone on Racheal's '03 Gixxer after a long day...and that was stock seat/cowl!!

No doubt about that! I still wear padded bicycle shorts under the leathers just for a little added padding, particularly for that bumpy ass road back to the gates.

Mine works great for race track use,not to much fun for the street, but i kept my stock seat if i ever ride on the street again. Gilfriend made it for me with a 1/2" piece of carpet pad and sewed a cover over it. It's held onto the seat pan with industrial velcro.

That actually looks good. Great idea

I put a Jones House of Power seat on my 12 it was similar to the Catalyst and it bruised my tailbone black and blue. I had a car shop put a 1/4 pad with some friction material on the back part and that helped but it hurt like a bastard until I got used to it.Honestly dollar for dollar a seat was the best modification I made on my bike.

I guess my fat ass finally gets the upper hand at something. My fat acts as a cushion. Been over 1600 passes on a catalyst seat, and no issues yet.

My first time at the track on the catalyst was very painful ! The catalyst bruised my tailbone , but it also bruised a lot of Busa boys egoes ! It helped me reach the ground without tiptoeing ! No really, so now I can do a so so burnout , and that , the weight loss , plus the lower gravity was just enough to put me in the 5s!! The pain is worth the GAIN !!!!!
