masszx14 ??? shoei rf1100 ???

Masszx14 I just noticed in another thread that you had jumped on on of the new rf1100s.I am 99% sure that will be my next helment. How about some feedback and pics to seal the deal unless you have buyers remorse on the purchase. I am curious what color and design you went with with the se. I have an 08 and it looks like the burgandy they are offering is a real close match. Help a brother out.

My girlfriend bought it and wore it for a week in New Orleans and a week in Miami and likes it a lot.
It's a size M and doesn't fit me well, haven't been on a bike with it myself but she rode in some really humid and hot weather and the helmet did great.
She says it moves air well at low speed and it's also the exact same weight as the older rf-1000 on the kitchen scale.
Finish is nice as expected, she got the white Hadron with black/gray graphics and the dark mirror visor.
Definately an improved lid in the rf line IMHO.

Get an Arai! They are very stable at speed and second to none in safety. I have had both and there is no comparison.

Some people have arai heads and some have shoei heads etc. That being said I was stoked about. The corsair 5 jolly rancher, untill I tried one on. It does not fit my onion head right. The arai price tag also scared the hell out of me to. I am a believer I top quality gear 1st and formost, but 800 bucks for fiberglass and padding I fuggin rediculous. I went and tried the new shoei rf 1100 on and it was the perfect shape for my head. I have not read any reviews that had any negative opinions of it either. It is also about 300 bucks cheaper. Too.

can you please tell me if the shoei 1100 quieter?

bigdtd, arai you are suggesting huh?

watch the video interview on this site when bikeland asks about quietness of helmets compared to others. they tap dance around "taller riders" louder bikes", "competitors copying" and a host of other total dodges.

Arai could have the quietest safest cheapest prettiest helmet in the world but after watching the bikeland interview may never buy another one of theirs! I was mindblown watching that lackluster BS dodgeball from Arai. AVG, Shoei, Shark, Suomy, and a host of other high-end helmets "fortunately" are available to us.

I agree. I never owned an Arai......and never will. have worn Shoei all my riding life. However, I have to say I do not like the new X-12, hence last week I ordered 2010 Bell Star. FedEx is now in possession of it and I shall receive it tomorrow. It's nice to have freedom of choice.

It is good to see Bell back in bike shops instead of at wallmart in the bike section. Post up your results if you are in an area that allows you to ride this time of year. They have the shoei rf 1100 at Cycle Gear. I am going to figgure out my exact size and mail order it to save some cash. On gear I have learned that you have better test fit or its cheaper to buy local than have to swap by ups etc.

I haven't used a bell helmet since I rode my bicycle to school in 4th grade
I didn't like it then either cause I only wore it once then I just went helmetless for years.
it would be nice to hear some good feedback on bells new helmets though

don't care what others say if it works for you fine. arai makes different lines with different shapes so you might try a different line. the shoei x-11 did not fit my head at all but the rf-1000 fit great and it was a quality helmet. however, it caught the wind if you turned your head and pulled hard on the chinstrap at high speeds. the arais i have worn are wind neutral and stay still on my head at all speeds and positions without having to tighten the chinstrap excessively. also great for a long ride. again quality second to none. just my two cents. if you find arai at a closeout they can be competetively priced as well. how much is your head worth? if you get one you won't wear anything else again.

I just bought a new Shoei RF1100 from Helmet Harbor. I usually only were an Arai, but I liked the look of this helmet. It is better than any Arai out there. Very light, very comfortable. The first time I wore it I forgot my ear plugs, but didn't notice untill I had stopped and taken the helmet off. It is that quiet. Aerodynamics are unbelievable. It just cuts the wind, and when I turn my head there NO wind backlash. You really have to try one of these. I paid less than $400 for it including delivery, and its one of the fancy paint models. My last Arai was $600 plus, and it will be sitting on the shelf now.

If you are turning your head at 150 + you have bigger problems than what helmet is on that onion in my opinion.

Great Helmet, good air flow and fit. Metallic Black is close to my 2007

metalic Black. It is better on long trips than my Arai Astral (wind noise).
