Need help wiring LED shift light....

I need some direction on how to wire a LED flashlight to use as a shift light. I know it can be done, but need you guys help! I was thinking I need to run a resistor to reduce from 12v to 5v, but not really sure. I’ll hook the other wires to a relay and have the power commander multi hub control the shift points.

Works perfectly fine. I have the same setup. The hub output wires are negatives. Dont wire the negative directly to the light, use a relay. If you wire directly to it, it will flicker the light at certain times or rpm for no explainable reason. Dynojet is aware of the problem.
On the relay attach a 12v+ wire to terminal 86 with a jumper to 30. Attach the w/g output wire of the hub to 85. The 12v+ wire of your LED goes to 87 and the 12v- wire goes to a frame ground.

Kawaskijockey, The neg can go to the battery or the frame... right? Let me know if this looks right. If so, I will try this today or tomorrow.

Incorrect. The battery ground does not join to the w/g wire to the 85. The LED neg needs the frame or battery ground. The rest is correct. Redraw and post it again.
I cant host pictures to the web so I cant redo it for you or show you a pic of an alternative shiftlight that works well. Autozone sells the Pilot Hyper Blue CZ-2958 LED accent light for around $15. There are 2 in the package and each has 3 led bulbs that are very bright. All you need is one of the two and it mounts perfectly on top of the guage cluster with the double sided tape.
