"Most kits" will have the block off plates and a plug for the air box - This is what you'll
need to remove emissions from the bike.

If you don't purchase a kit, remove your smog equipment, put two caps on valve cover smog nipples and plug your air box.

I have not tried to look at this but would this tamper with the oil ventelation system? Is there another way the moisture evaperates from the engine oil?

I didn't get one with mine. And considering the price it would have been the least they could do...lol.

OK dumb question...what's the point of this mod (smog removal)? Is it just dropping the weight or is there a performance gain as well? I plugged the air box with the Brock's supplied plug...what's to be gained from the entire smog removal?

I could do that if my dumbass hadn't already tore down the bike...lol I will figure something out. And to answer the question above, for me it is purely weight removal. I am trying to get every bit of weight off that I can.

I removed the all the hoses on the valve cover and plugged the nipples on the plates just to have more room to remove spark plugs. Not much in weight savings as far as I could tell.

But it adds up. Yeah it may only be a pound, but just the stuff that I took off today added up to almost seven pounds. I am going to get a lightweight battery and remove or replace a few other things and you are talking a tenth in the quarter. And it is still relevant to a canyon carver as well. Each pound you save is quicker acceleration, better handling and quicker stopping.

That's right. I appreciate it. I've taken a lot of weight off of mine. I got the TurnTech battery in the backyard garage from dubios. Best weight saving up high that I've done so far. Best price also. Let me know how much weight diff. from the stock to the after-market valve cover block off are. That may be the next thing I do if you help me figure it's worth it. Thanks

James

mainly has to do with when you get your bike dyno tuned...it allows for a more accurate a/f ratio to be attained when tuning because the AIR pump is then eliminated and isnt adding extra air to the system.

really isnt much of a performance gain, does aid in the elimination of popping in decel in the exhaust

There is a white electrical plug connector which connects to the smog pump on top of the cylinder head. After I remove the stock plates, the smog pump, and the hoses, what do I do with the electrical connector?

Do I just leave it there and tape up the unplugged electrical connector?

Thanks for the info, as my bike is torn apart right now.
