ok School time
where is #1 cylinder on a zx14 .. i've seen to mis-placed it and can't find it..
and on a 2nd note the rubber washers on the injectors that contact the throttle bodies is suspect to vacum leaks .. or in my case boost leak..
and who is running heavy valve springs and not having issues keeping the valves adjusted

1 seated on the bike number one is on the left
2 Yes they could leak boost but would have to be in real real bad shape to do so .
3 That i have no clue about , i have never run the HD springs ..

i found it in the service manual under valve adjustments .. when you prepare the bike with TDC#1&4 to the rear engine cases and the cam makings to the outside of the head .. number 1 cylinder is then next to the cam chain .. cause you can not gauge the far cylinder that's know as #1 on the far left .. unless you roll the motor 180 an the cams then roll 180 thus putting the cam marks facing each other on the inside of the head..which in turn puts the cylinder on the far left known as #1 as sitting on bike on TDC .
Manual explains it but even it is wrong with the way the pic has which valves to check on TDC ..Cause pic shows from the left as #1 ..but when you have the crank trigger on TDC#1&4 to the rear of cases as manual says you can not feeler gauge those cylinders in that pic..
i use to pay to have my valves adjusted on my zx14 (twice) and never did them .. but since putting the heavy springs in and a valve job and set to factory spec's ..i can't keep them adjusted ..either i'm pounding my seats into the head or the valve stems are stretching .. cause twice now after 4 passes i lost compression and after leak down found tight valves the case..order a shim kit yesterday ..

i'm losing #1&4 ..done added .002 to #1 exhaust valves .. and .001 to the intake on #4 in 2 valve adjustments in 8 total passes ..
i'm gonna set them all on the loose this time at .007 IN and .011 EX .. And see what happens

Ouch! Well if they tighten up again that means you need to find where the clearence is going! Either the valves are going, or the seats are getting pounded.
What's the seat pressure?

I know you had the head off recently, did you have a valve job done? sometimes they will cut the seats slightly different angles to make sure they seal right off the bat(the better guys dont need to do this) after awhile the valve and seat will sort of smash themselves together enough to deform the seat to be the same angle and then you get the normal valve seat contact patch instead of a thin one. doing so results in less clearance. i reserve the right to be wrong...

yes scott ..i had a valve job do at the machine shop ..then after blowing a head gasket i found several tight valves ..now after a fuel pump failure i checked again and found some of the same valves tight again .. anytime i've got to pull fairings i do a compression check.. then a leakdown test if my compression is low ..

You should get the head ported . . . . . . . I hear on a turbo they flow liquid aluminum better
than a NA motor does.
