New 2010 Yamaha YZ450F ! SWEET INNOVATIVE BIKE!
you guys seen this revolutionary new motocross bike from Yamaha?
They are breaking the mold.
All new chasis, rearward slanted cylinder, intake at front of bike, exhaust exiting out back of cylinder, vertical intake tract, all new fuel injection, fuel tank in center of bike, under seat, airbox near the headstay, all new engine....
From the looks of the pictures filling the fuel cell without splash back might be an issue, and damn exhaust might cook the nuts LOL, but very forward and innovative designs finally put into production.
COOL!
Wow... I sold my KTM just in time!

that's not new technology at all... Rudy kurtz has been building rotax cylindered drag banshees with the cylinders on backwards since i was a kid. They were called "crankensteins". I think it's awesome that yamaha will do it on a production bike though. Let me know how well it rips when you get one .

LMAO, your comparing a banshee that isn't even a banshee anymore to a production bike.
Yes, the concept is old, but mass producing it is new.
If you check out the engine design with the offset crankpin, that is new.
As a whole it is new.... all of it!
I am gonna wait and watch everything develop and unfold before I drop big bones on it.
Maybe next spring ....

For years, riders from all corners of the world were asking why do the headers have to be in the front and the intakes in the back. The benefits of the standard layout are numerous, however, there are also benefits of the reversed pattern. Is this the indication of a design to eventually make it to the streets?

They actually used Husabergs idea with the cylinder and the air filter. That was available on last years model.

450's are the litre bikes of the dirt. Put one on a motocross track and unless you're an avid racer you'll be asking for less lol.
