Shift light options
someone at the track told me that a diode on their shiftlight burnt out and sent a pulse
that did expensive damage to other components.
He stated that it is safer to get one that works off a sensor instead of the coil stick.
My shift light started flickering like his did so as a precaution I removed it at the track.
Any thoughts on what type of unit to try?
Also for now I am using the dash light on blink mode.(only setting this old man can see)
I am unsure if programing this is going of tacho reading or true coil pulse.
I read on here but now cant find the amount of tacho error.
was it 10600 on coil pulse is 11300 on the tacho???
Thanks for any advice .

I have used Dyna in the past but would break the bulb a few times a year if the bike came down hard off a wheelie so I went to the led bulb and had a problem with it flickering inbetween shifts. I now use the Raptor which does come off of the coils just like the Dyna but have had it for three years and love it. The only drawback that I have found is if the bike sits in the rain and the light gets soaked it takes it about 20 minutes to dry out and work again. Other than that no problems whatsoever, you can find them on eBay in a variety of colors.
