lights?
What kind of headlights have y'all tried? My low beam went out on me today, and I am looking to replace with something white.

I've never had to replace one. I would like some of the blue tinted bulbs in the low beams.

Don't know but heard that HID's don't shine correctly. Don't remember why though. I purchased some white off brand lights and I'm gonna see how they work out.

I refuse to add the ballast for the HIDs. I'll stick with the oems for now.

If you dont want to convert to HIDs . . . . . try the Sylvania "silver stars" (they're great)

Check out PIAA Extreme White, double the output at the same wattage as stock ie 55w draw, 110w output. Been using them for years in many bikes, bright long lasting bulbs.

I don't know if a car is different, but I do know I bought a set for erin's toyota camry bc one blew. I got the "extra bright" and put one in, and left the other factory bulb in, and you couldn't tell which one was the "extra bright". A very dissapointing $30+ spent.
Cars may be different. O yea, and on the back of the package life expectantcy was only 1/2 of original equipment bulb.

Geez for the price of a pair of expensive halogens or less you can get HID's . I get mine off a supplier on the FleBay .

Silverstars are great, the Ultra version is even better. Have them in some of my cars. The only problem: they are not available in type H9 nor H11, which are used on ZX-14.

Ok... so I got those offbrand lights and they suck. They are not nearly as bright as the stock. The shape of the beam is much different. The stock lights had a line at which they shined and the coverage was very even. The new bulbs are a whiter color but the projection is not as far and sort of speratic. I spent $30 for two and I would much rather have my oem's back. I guess you get what you pay for.
So where can I buy these sylvania silver stars that you speak of so highly and are they whiter than oem's?

Autozone,or pepboys have the sylvania silverstars. Even walmart has em.
Decent bulbs , a bit whiter than stock. But don't expect lighting like a high end luxury vehicle.

I've pretty much given up on HID like lighting, I just want something as good as stock bulbs at a decent price. PIAA bulbs are $60 for two. I can't find the phillips that it came with.

Geez $60 for halogens!? I thought the $ 70 for the true HID conversion kits I get were pricey lo!
But if the stock bulbs are what you want the dealer ship should be able to get those for you.

I want bright lights with a whiter appearance than stock that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I would love to put HID's in but I've heard to much about losing your high beams. I'm not willing to sacrifice my high beams, I use them to often.
Speaking of lights has anyone changed the upper little running/parking lights to leds yet? I also can't find the size or type of bulb for these. Granted I haven't pulled the bulbs out and looked at them either. but the manual doesn't say. Anyone know?

Just change your low beams to HIDs and you would use your high beams less. I use HIDs for High 6k and Low 12k. I only use the high beams on lonely country roads and when deer may be around. I do need to play with my adjustment a little I was lighting up the sides of mountains with my high beams and truckers get upset if I forget to turn them off

Well I still have my use of my high beams and I have HID's.
The HID's are on my low , and I left the Highbeams stock . I seldom have to use the high beams unless I'm in the canyons or backroads at night where you have turns that are in an incline you have to light up. The beam pattern is same as stock but with that intensity of an arc welder .
The little running lights are the car instrument panel type with one end that is flat that plugs in the socket. I can't think of the # though...
But as far as the running lights being converted to leds . I have had problems with this. They burn out on my bike for some reason. I don't know if its the brand or what ?

That's what I'm running the 6K . Nice retina burning white light 
I had 8K a while ago but I didn't like the blue tint.

I like them for low beem only I guess the rubber bulb support is hard to get in to the light housing the guy that did it for me didnt put them in. And now I See the light beam hoble around will riding. Maybe thats why my last one broke on Polamar Mtn from hard riding.
