I'm not sure what you are looking to do? I think I have checked it, and it is gigantic compared to the 12R one, if you are wondering.

So I'm told.
Sounds like a top secret project you have going here.

you probly have it figured out
it may require some machining and possibly clearancing the cases. i want to see if its possible....

Hi Scott. I believe that the basket is so huge that it is not even remotely close. But I can measure it on Thursday when I am off. In the meantime, check these photos:

That will give you an idea of the size relative to the 12R, and the clearance around the basket in the 14 cases.

From the picture it looks like the 12r uses the same size clutch as the ZRX, old ZX10's, KZ1000's and other low power bikes.

thanks Shane. Dwayne from cycle concepts confirmed that some of the fibers swap, so therefore the baskets must be the same basic size with slight differences due to thickness of the basket. i had one busa guy tell me the OD of a stock basket was 6.75 in, roughly .5in larger than my MTC billet basket in my 12. (sounds small to me going by your pics though). the 14 plates look to be an in bigger in diameter? looking forward to getting a definative answer thursday

Scott, as best I can tell, my basket is also 6.75" across. I could not get the jaws of the caliper all the way up inside, but that is my best estimate.

If you are going to go that route...why not swing for the fence and try to fit a Busa-type hub. It is 6 springs instead of the 5 of the 14. I know you would prefer the 6 spring setup...

thats the plan. i want to keep a similar lock up setup. the 14 or busa basket would work(fibers swap, same OD), but now which one will fit the 12 gear core easier? if you have the pack out sometime, could you get center to center of the rivits for me plz? i was told a busa is 4.125 in. im going to check mine tomm night

May also want to take a look at the ZX11 basket. Same size clutches as the 14 but I think the 14 has 1 more fiber.

Aren't KZ style and Busa clutch plates interchangable?
