New to the board and a quick q.

Hey everybody! Names Chan. New to the zx-14 board after purchasing a sweet 06 zx14 from bigwil!

Its a black beauty but I do like things a certain way. I have a few minor sratches on it from microfiber clothes and wiping it off. Curious the best way to get rid of those scratches. I would need to do the same on my other black bike as well!!

Microfiber scratches??? You may need to hit it with some 1500-2000 wet sandpaper and then buff it . That's one of the problems with black, it shows all imperfections. Don't be afraid to pull the plastics off the bike to work on them either.

Congrats' on the new for you bike & Welcome.

3M has a E store. their scratch remover and their detal towels are Great as is the Glaze.

Not cheap but the best scratch remover I ever used. Better than the Meguiers and it is good.
Went thru what you are looking at.3M best and I cut up a Sham/Scam Wow and use it to apply
the 3M and a 3M detail towel to remove.

Black 14's are easy to scratch the clear coat. Use the 3M before you color sand the clear coat. Google 3M and look for the E store. Nevr rub on the black dry, you will see little lines in clear in certain lighting in a shop. Welcome

This is the product I use on my black 06, and my black Vmax, and my black chev .
It amazes me everytime.
Swirls and spider webbing is covered and it looks like a clean deep fresh paint afterward.

The beauty of this stuff is I have used it without water everytime, unless the road dirt ( dried mud) is on the paint.

I spray it on the bike, even with dead bugs dried on the paint. I let it soak in and then wipe it off just like normal wax, and the finnish is super slippery too.
When you touch it with the back of your hand it feels like wet ice, its so slippery.

Great stuff.

This is a ZX-14 correct? You should be able to do what I do to keep my bike looking like new. Next time you bend space and time go back to when the bike was new and jump on the new bike. Repeat as necessary. Also when you travel at space/time bending speeds you prevent any scratches from happening. Its only when you slow down the damage happens. But then again disreguard this message if you do not own a Red ZX-14 as the space time bending capabilutues only work with the red ones

Haha I knew I should have got the red one!! I actually think I have some of that color X stuff around the garage now that I think about it. Just didn't want something too harsh that would make it worse!! Sounds like something for me to do whenever I take all the plastics off this winter for teardown.

The bugs here can be so bad, nothing will take them off but real good pressure, or a good ol scrubbing... which as you know is counter productive.

If you bike never see' s a car wash, and you use wizards, How can you determine meguires doesn't wash off though?

I really like the synthetic polymer based products, they lube the paint and grit, so it doen's scratch any worse.
I think its important not to use a product that reduces the clear coat everytime, as eventually there won't be any left. I have seen this with rubbing coumpound, and its really a sad situation.
3M sounds like a good product to get it back to new, and polymers to keep it that way ...?

My biggest gripe has always been the products like color match, fill in the scratches, and the next time the vehicle get a good blast with detergent to remove bugs, it washes off and you have the same scratches reappearing.
I bought a vehicle that was treated with this stuff, and the first time I washed it I realised what was going on. NOT HAPPY.

Bently , you got link for the specific product you prefer?

Thanks

Also I prefer a prodcut that repells dust rather than attracting it, and doesn't bead water, but sheds it.

Lets hear what ya all got!

-water shed not bead?
-removes or fills scratches?
-repels dust?
-water required to wash first?
-polymer based?
-does it wash off with detergent?

what have you used to compare it against?

Thanks!

OK, which product you using here?

Man a guy could spend days and hundreds $ figuring this out.
There are so many products its just totally confusing, and I am NOT about to clean my bike in a 4 step polishing process. That is retarded! LOL

wash, wax, ride!'
maybe once a year polish is too.
so whats the dirt on cleaning your ride?

Okay Dubious on the wizards site I use the Mist n Shine to keep my bike clean never put the hose on it unless I'm on a ride and it rains and the bike is an absolute mess. I actually like the leather stuff on there site for my cars as well. then on Meguiers site I use the scratchx 2.0 to get the swirl marks as well as fine scratches out then I use the nxt tech 2.0 wax and the paint looks wet. so really there is nothing to wash off.
