I don't know how much it costs you...my boots have plastic toe sliders on the inside of the boot. I can hear them drag in my videos. I don't drag my toes into 2nd gear, though.

I don't try to get my feet all the way up until after the 1-2 shift. Otherwise it can be easy to get out of the groove if you move around too much. It also makes the bike more likely to wheelie because you are raising the center of gravity.
