Down load OEM Shop Manual on font page. If shims need to be replaced, cams have to come out. Shims under the bucket. Major PIA if you have never pulled the cams on a Kaw.

If less than 20,000 miles I would not worry about it yet. Unless it was 20K Drag Strip
miles, then check them. I ride with several other ZX-14's and none of them has needed a shim replaced yet. One has 26,000 street/Hiwway miles and had a Race Shop check them. Still in factory spec.

That makes 2 of us ! Well I checked mine at 45,000 and all was good so I'd bet $$$ that it's still good at almost 53,000.
