Somewhere to go

I live in Chicago - a city that doesn't exactly welcome its growing biker community with open arms. The police chase riders from one spot to the next every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. They enjoy harrassing folks and making all kinds of empty threats. Because of this we end up traveling several hours outside my fair city to take part in events like Daytona Beach Bike Week, Myrtle Beach Bike Weekend, Biketoberfest, etc. Its only at these events that we can truly enjoy riding our machines without the constant nit-picking of the boys in blue.

Q: Is there anyone on this site from the Midwest who knows of events that take place closer to home than the 16 or 17 hour haul to Myrtle Beach or Daytona?

So you know - we went to MotoGP and had a great time the whole weekend in Indianapolis. Are there any other events taking place? Thanks.

Thanks Bently. What route do you guys take for the run? How many bikes show up for the event?
