Ever have tire squirm?

For lack of a better description lol! But this past sunday I spent the day carving canyons Santa monica mountains to be exact. When I hit some debris in the road . Nothing happened at that moment but after that at really low speeds the handle bars would pulsate to the left . I thought WTF ? So I checked to see if I bent the rim or maybe a rotor cause it seemed to get worst when the brakes were applied. Didn't see any thing obvious. So tonight It got the best of me so I went into the garage saying to myself I'm not sleeping till I find something wrong with the front end! So after a a bit of spinning the front wheel I noticed one spot on the tire that has a bulge in it! So tomorrow I'm changing the tire , I'm sure that has to be it .

Good thing you caught it in time. I always change out both tires at the same time for safety's sake.

The only time I experienced "squirm" was with a rear which was deflated for a sprint and began to overheat.

All is well! I changed my front tire this morning and all the silly stuff that was happening with the brakes and the steering have magically dissappeared and my lovely 14 is back to being as smooth and precise as she was when she rolled off the showroom floor

Good to hear. I changed the front on mine recently, it didn't look worn but I rode our demonstrator 14 and realised how lame the handling on my bike was, something you can miss when you just sprint all the time. Caused by the front tire profile wearing.

I never keep tires for this long but I don't ride that much.

5k on 2 rears and 1 front is all I ask from my Pilot Powers 2 CT.

Hey bigdtd... explain to me how not changing both tires out at the same time is unsafe. I can see it handling better since both tires will have the same profile, but it is perfectly safe to change one tire at a time. Just the same as it is safe to run different brands of tires front and rear or different compounds of tires front and rear.

There is a big difference between personal prefference and calling something unsafe. You might want to word things differently so that you don't give people bum gouge.

Never had any squirming of the front tyre but when I still had the OEM Dunlops on I managed to do some two wheel sliding around a few corners on a spirited run in the hills. My mate behind me on his R1 couldn't beleive it when we stopped at the service station, he raced over to check out the tyres they looked fine... As a side note.... Don't do any spirited riding with a stonker of a head cold.

What I find strange is that there was no problems at high speeds only at low. You would think that a buldge on a tire would get worst at high speeds lol!
