ok i put in new springs for my weight from racetech, feels better in the twisties than the stock ones did. i went with race ones not the street version. my question is how do i dial it
in compression and rebound settings? what do i want for the best traction. stiff, soft. is there anyone around here that really knows there stuff? thanks guys.

Don't we all want the best handling possible?
Really it's gonna be trial and error , no magic 5 clicks here 2 clicks there .
But basically start at stock settings and adjust from there. You are tuning for street and canyon use and not the road course so you won't be wanting a rough ride . Start with your sag, adjust the springs so that from fully extended to ride position that the forks don't sag more than an inch. Your goal with the compression and dampning adjusters is to have a front end that doesn't dive and doesn't shake the eyeballs out of your head!
Too much compression and your forks don't wanna compress , too much damping and you forks don't wanna move for any thing especially bumps!
Record your setting too and store them in a safe place such as your maintainence log.

We have a guy around the Tampa Bay area named Chad that does great suspension adjustmentsetups on your bike for around $50. He is an experienced roadracer but asks what you intentions are and gives you a baseline setup. From there he can fine tune based on your inputs/updates.

Now that would be the best way to go ! We got guys that come to bikenight that adjust suspension for $20 and usually racetech are the ones who show up to to the job.

I'd hate to imagine what would happen to me in the canyons if I did that to my suspension!

The advice from the suspension guru's is usually to set the sag for the rider's weight and then adjust the damping for whatever kind of riding they're doing.

I am not strapping the front right now. I will next year though. I had to back off the preload to get the right sag for my weight and I ride on relatively rough roads so backing off the rebound dampener made the ride unbelievably smoother. Cornering is much better as well on rough roads. I weigh 215 unsuited.
