Cam Chain Tensioner

Has anyone used cam chain tensioner off of a zx12 modified for a zx14. What are the differences between the two. And how many miles have you had the zx12 cct on the bike.

I have 19,500 miles on my 06 zx14 and will rattle on start up for a very long time at times I replaced the cam chain tensioner with the 2008 model about 3,500 miles ago now it rattles just like it did before I replaced it the first time. when I first put it in everything was all quite thought that it had fixed the rattle on start up problem. Some times it rattles for so long before it quits I'm afraid of it damageing something I know the make the manually tensioner but would like to have an automatic one that won't rattle like the factory one does.

I called Bob Carpenter Racing and asked how much for a ZX-12 CCT that he machines some material off. This mod on the ZX-12 CCT works great as many of the members have them. Bob told me to call back in two weeks as he was out. He only had some for his engine packages for the ZX-14.

I need 2 so if you will call Carpenter Racing Engines
and ask to as he needs to know there are ZX-14 owners that want this on a stock engine with just bolt on parts. I will only purchase this from Carpenter
Racing. He has been doing this a long time. He also advised me for a Street Driven ZX- 14 Do Not use a manual CCT as the chain design was his reason.

May be we can get a Group purchase from Bob? I need 2, you need 1.anyone else???

APE works excellent. I installed it on mine with ease, roughly 10000km on it now and no adjustment needed.

Several members here use the APE, had one on a 1310cc FJ1200 many years ago.
Just repeating what Bob Carpenter told me on the phone two weeks ago. I checked
the slack every oli change but that was a different bike and just me. Most old Honda's
from the 1960's all had manual adjust (spring loaded) CCT back in the day. :-).. I Sport Tour and street ride
mostly now and don't want to have to even think about the CCT on a 1000 mile trip.

Love the APE manual, wouldn't go back to auto for any reason. Set and forget.

Bob never gave me a price 2 weeks ago. He said call him back in 2 weeks and he would have the answer to how much and when.

davej does your APE have a spring loaded plunger with a flat that a lock bolt holds tight??
