I need to ship my bike. who do I use???
Gentlemen I come to you with a heavy heart today. I am Moving from Phoenix to Michigan. and I simple have to many vechiles to move myself. So my beloved 14 has to be shipped. But I have never shipped a bike across country before. So how much can I expect to pay? Who is a good company to use? who will take the best care of my baby. and how long will it take? I called a company called federal motorcycle movers (who is one of the top places ebay lists when you buy a bike off ebay) and got a quote of $530. is this resonable? and are they a good company? I.E. can I trust them with my bike? thanks for any help and info guys.

I have used Eagleone express 5 times to ship my bike all over hell and gone, and they have always done a great job, and I found their price was the most reasonable. They are out of California, and go all over the USA. I see they've changed names now, but you might give them a call for a quote.
I've moved my bike from Calif, to Louisiana, back to California, twice, to Missouri, and that's about it. I used them every single time. Never a scratch on the bike. I think it was around $500 each time, but it has been more than two years since I've used them.
Also, you might try looking on uship.com They have people that post on there that may have room in their trailer for your bike, or room in the truck, or something like that.
Also, for a moving company for you house hold goods, I've only had experience with Allied Van Lines. Great service. But, it depends on where your living too. In Louisiana, good help is hard to find, so it was one guy, humping all my stuff up one flight of stairs, while I watched. Nothing broken though.

Federal is part of Allied Van Lines. Very reputable. They handled all the shipping for the "Art of the Motorcycle" exhibit, some of the most valuable motorcycles on Earth. I shipped a small bike cross-country this Summer and it cost $730. If you want the lowest price try uship.com . Shippers will bid for your contract. LSL

I want a good price but I am very concerned about the bike being taken care of. thanks Larry your the first person I have herd of that has used Federal. its good to hear that they are good. right now I am between federal for $530 and eagleone for $595.
Federal is cheaper but I will have to drive 2 hours to pick up the bike in Michigan. eagle one is more expensive but delivers to my door. I can live with both prices. so now the question is which of the 2 offers the best service and will take better care of my bike???

I live in Michigan and have one question...what the hell are you thinking? It is basically martial law here and a short riding season.

Like I said before, I have only used Eagle one, and they are very careful with the bikes. That is all they ship, bikes. So they know what they're doing. And, they come right to your door. You should have seen one of the streets they had to come down to deliver my bike in Missouri. They truck/trailer combo is huge, but they got it done.
I added it up, and I shipped with them 6 times, total. And, the price back then, is about the same as the quote you got. Having never used anyone else, I can't speak for them.
BTW, have you ever woke up to go to work, walked out to scrap one inch of ice of your windshield, used a battery booster to get your car started, all in two degree weather?? That's what your in for.
It ain't PHX....you'll have bugs that bite, humidity you only see during a Monsoon, all summer, and thunderstorms.
Did I mention ice storms? Those are a blast. Hope you have a garage, because you ain't getting that ice of the windshield.

Oh I know what I am in for. I am from Muskegon Michigan originally, and thats where I am moving back to. So I know what I am in for. I am sad I am gonna be missing the nice riding weather of Phoenix.(it was to hot to ride all summer). And I do hate storing the bike for the winter but hey thats why there's snowmobiles. As or snow and Ice I live right on the lake so we get all the lake effect snow so I am used to getting buried. However my wife from southern California is not, (she may kill me this winter). And as for the bugs, well sure there is a lot of them ad they bite but Phoenix has way more critters that will kill you. ( you wouldn't believe the size of the black widow that decided to make its home on my bike in june. I swear it was cross bread with a tarantula

Just saw this thread. Glad you didn't go with USFHolland. They did $5000 worth of damage and thats not counting the gouges in the block. Get ahold of me and we can do some riding next summer. Seasons about over here. Snow in a couple weeks.

JC motors shipped my Ducati from Florida to Texas. Did a great job and I believe it cost around $580. I hope Eagle 1 does as good a job for you. The waiting is quite nervewracking for sure. Good luck.
