2010 Rumor Season is Underway!

Break out the popcorn and warm up your keyboards - 2010 is just around the corner. Will the Global economy slow down progress, or will the OEMs deliver? MCN is reporting a new V4 Honda in the works, which seems to be substantiated in part by a corporate Honda micro-site that's surfaced in Europe.

Young Machine claims a Turbo ZX-14 Kawi, while other publications cite a patent filing for a "big bang" ZX-10R. In the mean time Suzuki is reported to have canceled their Dealer Meeting, while Yamaha puts the brakes on their famous Aquarium Party in Monterey, California.

Stand by! It's going to be an exciting year!

I've been talking about a V4 Honda since before Aprilia rolled theirs out last year!

And we all predicted the ZX10 would copy Yamaha's firing order with a few more ponies but less handling/lap times as with every year.

The turbo ZX14 is good for some drama but i haven't heard anything about it through he grapevine.

I've been seriously watching Honda for the V4 action!

hmmm get a check ready...?

Bright and early this morning, the UK publication MCN (Motorcycle News) printed unofficial “official” photos of Honda’s upcoming V4 (VFR1200) 1200cc sports-tourer motorcycle in its print issue – leaving web readers in Great Britain scrambling to find a copy. Not having access to the article, we’re speculating that studio images of one proposed version were leaked – one way or another.

But as fate will have it, we caught the real thing today. And we caught it in action. At speed. And detailed photos as well – even if motorcycles aren’t normally Leftlane’s bag.

We’re not sure if the VFR1200 will reach dealerships here in the United States, but these pictures are proving to be big news around the globe.

In addition to the ultra-modern styling, MCN mentions a variable-cylinder engine (cylinder deactivation), which will increase the fuel economy and lower harmful emissions.

The Honda bike is a distance sport tourer. Trying to drag race it would be like dragging a Connie 14 with the luggage on the sides

I was talking to a Kawasaki Rep yesterday about ZX-14's. In the UK all the 2009 stock is sold. He said they were expecting an early release of 2010 bikes this autumn. There was no suggestion of any changes except maybe colours. I asked him why we, in the UK, got the plain bikes and none of the special editions with the better paint, or even Red. He said it was decided on by Kawasaki in Holland, Europes HQ and they thought we had conservative tastes. I said in that case they need to do some market research. He agreed and said all the Green 09's had been snapped up in weeks. So if you're listening Kawasaki we would like some SE's in the UK please.

Hmmm, me like. The shaft drive is good news, at least for me. I'll keep the 14 though.

Thanks for the pics Mack
